Notes
•The addition of cinnamon sugar cookie is optional but gives it a wonderful touch at such small amounts.

For a great flavor twist try other vanilla custards tfa or FA (even FW) or split them up between them! This will give it a slightly different color of taste.
You can sub regular marshmallow for toasted marshmallow (especially if you use cinnamon sugar cookie)..

You also can Add 1 % of EM (10% solution).. to round off the edges..
Steep 48 hours @ 90 degrees then set in a cool spot for 2 weeks, enjoy !!!

Hey Blues thanks for linking me to this recipe! I have everything but the FW concentrates. I'll be sure to order these flavors next time I'm buying :)

Anytime Sir Timmy !! BTW until you get your FW flavors, you can sub CAP sugar cookie.. TPA Vanilla Bean Gelato for Vanilla bean ice cream.. The FW Custard you can't sub cause it lends a certain depth of flavor...

The The Vienna cream in addition with the toasted marshmallow give this a crème brûlée undertone that's amazing !! This is an ADV that IMHO rivals the Original...

Thank you for this awesome recipe ... i adapted it to my preferences.

@Morning glory I'd love to hear how you improved upon it ?? The best thing for making a recipe great is feedback and criticism.. So if it's not too much trouble maybe you could list what you did different please ???
#6 by Mourning Glory, Apr 16. 2015, 15:47
I won't go as far as saying that I improved this recipe. I just adjusted to the flavors that I had available and reduced the nicotine level to 3. Brown Sugar as I had no Brown Sugar extra and I swapped Vanilla Swirl with Vanillin. I have made this recipe but have not tried it yet as i am allowing it to steep for about 10 days. i'll post again after tasting the results.

@mouring glory: you're very welcome !! I'm so glad to hear you like this !! I really enjoy this recipe too !! I have tried making adjustments and always come back to the original.. Although I'm going to trie seeing what a little FA Catalan Cream does in place of the vanilla swirl ??
I like to tinker with recipes but sometimes if it's not broke then why fix it LoL !!! ;)

I love custards, LOVE THEM. Nice sweet non-eggy custards, like doomsday gourmets or adores hazy custard. Ive been trying to make a decent custard for 6 months and have tried alot of recipes from this site and others. I finally found out why i havent liked any of them, and why none taste like the vendors i like. Most people are using caps tfas or fws custard at upward of 10 to 15%, which for me is WAY too much. I made a hazy custard today and found out that for me personally cap or tfas custards work best between 2 and 6%. Just a thought if you're not liking the custards youre making, drop the percentage. To each their own, but 10 to 15% is just way too high for me. Ill be making this tonight , ill do an original version with just the caps custard at probably 4 or 5% and ill donthe caps and fw custard version as well. Also cuts down on the steep time. Recipe looks great.

@Apathy are u gonna make the hazy custard that u made public? I'm definitely interested.
#14 by jasenrm, Jan 22. 2016, 20:07
@Blues I plan on making this tonight or tomorrow. We are expecting a big snow storm so I will have plenty of time! Sounds yummy. I loooooove cap v1 custard and v. Bean ice cream by tpa is another favorite of mine.

It starting to become hard to get the cap vc v1 in Europe. Would v2 cut it? Also does the ethyl maltol sweeten it up?

I only have regular marshmallow not toasted :(

Is there something that can replace Vienna cream?
Thanks!

Should I steep with the nic added or will it be the same if I add after steeping for a couple weeks then add the nic??
#19 by Hiwayhero, Apr 2. 2017, 16:19

#20 by Blues , Dec 2. 2017, 15:52
Made some small tweaks that had really made this better !!!

I don’t have marshmallow or any of the cinnamon flavorings, but I’m a custard addict and I whipped up some of it regardless.... I don’t see myself waiting for it to steep, bravo.

Ordering marshmallow and those cinnamon flavors as we speak ;)
