I know Zeppola is more of an Italian fried dough/donut pastry, but I really wanted to play with this recipe. Needs a few days for cheesecake to round out. Like fluffy fried lemon glaze pastry filled with mellow cheesecake. So good! Vanilla Bean IC is such a fun and versatile vanilla, and really opens up recipes without the peppery bite of other brands. I am quite proud of this one, and like it as much as my RY Double Ice Cream. I wanted a nice lemon pastry without the use of INW Lemon Cake, and this fits quite nicely. I have tweaked percentages to increase the Sugar Cookie, and bring down cheesecake, even though the cheesecake was light. After a few days, Lemon Sicily becomes less bright and tart, and really melds with the cookie/dough flavors.

Zeppola and NY CC on my next order list. I love lemon pastry and haven't found one juice yet that I like...will have to give this a go! Thanks! Will let ya know when I do.

This recipe is amazing!! Thanks very much for posting this..
I used Capella's Italian lemon Sicily at the same amount because i didn't have the FA version. I found that (although great) the lemon wasn't prominent enough for me. Think I'll order some FA lemon Sicily and try that.
If you have experimented any more with this recipe along these lines I would love to know; I recently discovered zeppola and it has changed my life... Never would have considered using it with NY Cheesecake but it works so well.

I know exactly what you mean because FA Sicily does the same thing as well, it starts out nice and bright, but really tames down after a few days. I found a stellar fix for this though, a few drops (just 2-3) of LA Lemonade will boost that lemon right where it needs to be, and stops the Sicily from fully losing its potency. I have not tried Cap Sicily, but I have Cap Lemon Meringue, and that is very light on lemon flavor. The FA Sicily might be just enough lemon for you though. I'm so happy to have found Zeppola as well, it does everything that CAP Glazed, Funnel Cake and the other odd tasting pastry flavors couldn't do. Im glad ya liked it! I have a few Zeppola recipes, and actually working on a Coffee Donut right now ☺.

Helmet, if you like this one, or at least citrus type flavors with a cheesecake or cakey base, try the Lemon Cream Cakes with Lime Zest, it is really good, and the lime is not overly acidic, it's just a pinch. You might like that one.
