Notes
This is version 11 and I reckon it's as close as I'm going to get. I've tried various different combinations of boysenberry and elderberry to get that loganberry part right and have settled on this. It's about 95% the way there. Unfortunately I've run out of the original and the patience to take it that last bit.

The tart and sour probably isn't necessary but I just couldn't get that sour/crispness the original has with sour alone.

You could probably sub the FA Aurora for cap lemon lime if needs be. I'm not 100% convinced that aurora belongs in the mix but I needed something acidic to break up the jammyness of the berries so...
You could also try subbing the cap blackberry for FA but at a much lower %.

The 0.25% inawera lemon is really important to help with the zesty/freshness that the original has, but a couple of drops too much and you'll get a different taste, so mix carefully. 4 drops per 20ml is what I used.

I can also taste super sweet in the original but at 0.5% it was too much.

If anybody manages to take it further, I would appreciate some feedback.

Have at it you filthy mongrols.

Edit
I've swapped the tart and sour for citric acid, added fa blackberry and dropped the loganberry a bit to try and deal with the perfumey taste. Seems to have done the trick.

1 week steep minimum.

Just ordered the flavours for this... I'll give it a try tomorrow afternoon and let you know how I get on!
#2 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 13. 2017, 17:16
Please do πŸ‘πŸ». Be sure to let it sit for a couple of days for the perfumey taste of the loganberry to dissipate.
#3 by Kontrast, Jan 17. 2017, 17:51
maaaaate! iv been trying to clone this for 6 months and have only got about 50% there.was using sasami loganberry at too high a percentage and came out far to perfumey. will mix this up asap n see how it is :) cheers
#4 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 17. 2017, 21:13
I think they may be using a different loganberry but this is as close as I can get with the concentrates available to me.
#5 by Kontrast, Jan 18. 2017, 13:22
I can't find any other loganberrys anywhere in the UK so assumed it wud be this one. I can't really taste boulevard anymore since I've been vaping it 24/7 for 6 months so I'd be happy with it being a little different as I might be able to taste it again lol. Il be making this in a few days. Il get back to you on any thoughts I have on it. Cheers.
#6 by Kontrast, Jan 18. 2017, 13:27
In one of my attempts to clone this I added 1.5β„… champagne (FA) into it given its "fortified Malibu loganberry pulp" description. Used an ultrasonic steeper for 20 mins at 45Β°c to get rid of any floral tastes from the loganberry and used lime instead of lemon although I think lemon will be better :)
#7 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 18. 2017, 16:27
I know what you mean, I only vaped 20ml of the original but 11x30mls of my own creation and I've had enough haha.
#8 by Kontrast, Jan 19. 2017, 19:54
Yea mate I think your right....Think it's a different loganberry, sasami is just too perfumey compared to the original but il keep ultrasonic bathing it to see I I can remove that, apart from that tho it smells pretty close. Will try on Monday after a steep :)
#9 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 19. 2017, 22:21
Personally, I would ditch the ultrasonic and just leave it to sit a while. If after that it's still perfumey then give it a little breath. Can I ask do you mix by syringe or weight?
#10 by Kontrast, Jan 19. 2017, 22:50
I just find the ultrasonic (just for 10 mins this time) helps any perfume escape the mix but I'm just gonna let it breath now overnight and steep for 2-3 days in a dark cupboard . Iv always just mixed by weight for better accuracy, although added the lemon in drops. I have good faith in this so mixed about 230mls lol. the loganberry in my own version of boulevard smoothed out after about a week so will keep sampling this every 2-3 days to see how it progresses :)
#11 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 19. 2017, 23:08
Fair enough. I guess we all get into a way of doing things and whatever works, works.

Yeah, I also mix by weight. I was just checking because the 1ml/g weight for the loganberry is probably off.

Smelling the FA blackberry concentrate I have makes me think that's in there, but I already know it can be a little perfumey so can't see how it could be unless they've got something else going on that I've missed, which is counteracting the perfume.

Amazing Stuff, love it :)
#13 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 20. 2017, 10:11
Thanks Wodde πŸ‘πŸ»
#14 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 24. 2017, 23:40
I may have cracked the floral note. Only made it tonight so I'll give it a few days and then report back.
#15 by Kontrast, Jan 24. 2017, 23:57
Iv been letting his settle for a week now and the floral note has gone about 70β„… from the smell anyway. Will try vaping it tomorrow n see how it is :)
#16 by Kontrast, Jan 25. 2017, 00:21
Never realised till now that one on one flavours do a loganberry concentrate! Have you ever tried it?
#17 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 25. 2017, 00:30
Maybe it just needs a 3 week steep. Didn't know One on One did a loganberry, I'll go take a look.
#18 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 25. 2017, 00:40
The one on one Loganberry says Oil on it. I wouldn't be using that without reading the msds for it first, which I'm struggling to find.
#19 by Kontrast, Jan 25. 2017, 00:53
Yea fair enough....I can't find it in the UK anyway.
#20 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jan 31. 2017, 22:21
I've edited the recipe a little. I don't know whether it's closer or not but it's definitely much nicer. Gave it a week to steep.
#21 by Kontrast, Jan 31. 2017, 23:35
Il give it a mix up and see how it turns out mate, good job :)
#22 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Feb 1. 2017, 00:01
Thanks πŸ‘πŸ». I was thinking that inawera mai tai would be a good sub for the aurora, since the description of the mai tai mentions rum and tropical citrus but I couldn't get it to sit right in the mix. Something to think about for future versions tho.
#23 by adiktid, Mar 9. 2017, 00:56
I can't find the loganberry anywhere: any suggestions ?
#24 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Mar 9. 2017, 01:00
The only stockist I know of in the uk is chefs flavours and they are out at the moment. You can also import it from sasami themselves (Germany I think).
#25 by adiktid, Mar 9. 2017, 01:03
Blue Raspberry Loganberry - Sasami ( DE ) comes up and in stock: would that be the one?
#26 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Mar 9. 2017, 01:09
I'm not sure. Chefs list blue raspberry and Loganberry separately.
#27 by Wodde, Mar 9. 2017, 19:02
Its the same.
#28 by adiktid, Mar 19. 2017, 17:31
Thank you :) I have ordered all the ingredients and looking forward to mixing!
#29 by adiktid, Mar 28. 2017, 21:45
Wow! Thank you so much for this recipe. I would say it's easily 97% accurate :) Love it and saving me sooo much money. Kudos to you guys!!
#30 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Mar 29. 2017, 11:12
No worries adiktid πŸ‘πŸ»
#31 by JB101, Apr 20. 2017, 00:50
This is pretty damn close!!! Had to order direct from Germany but it was worth it
#32 by Kontrast, May 12. 2017, 14:36
hi again homebrew :), quick question....if using "real flavours malic acid 10%" in this mix will i just use it at 6% instead of using TPA sour? cheers
#33 by UK Homebrew info (18+), May 12. 2017, 16:02
That's my boo boo their Kontrast. I've long since switched to a dilution of malic acid at 10%. The recipe was created with that, not tpa sour. So it would be a like for like swap. I'll change the recipe now to reflect that.
#34 by coops, Jun 19. 2017, 22:11
Still steeping this, thanks man for the recipe , have you ever tried Contra by wick liquor ? if so a clone would be mega , my favourite ADV.

I'm on with contra at the moment πŸ‘πŸ»
#36 by coops, Jun 21. 2017, 19:35
Nice one , it's a serious juice is contra , how are you getting on with the Porta Fortuna fruit compote.I've had 2 goes at it but tbh I've only started Vaping a month ago but like a fool I've jumped jumped straight into diy.... So I think I'm miles out.
Keep up the good work bud.

I've pretty much nailed contra. Just waiting on some concentrates coming so I can fine tune it ;)
#38 by Mojo, Jun 27. 2017, 00:00
Thanks for the recipe. I've just mixed a small bottle up. I have subbed aurora for cap lemon lime and subbed loganberry for flavour west blue raspberry. It has that strong floral note like you said but I'm fairly sure that's coming from the cap blackberry. I've tried a few blackberry liquids in my years working in a vape shop and they do tend to have that 'parma violet' floral note.
#39 by Mojo, Jun 27. 2017, 00:02
I will let it sit for a few days and report back. I will say though that it does taste nice albeit not much like boulevard (I've vape gallons of that stuff). Also, the citric/malic addition is a nice touch. It kind of wakes up your taste buds
#40 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jun 27. 2017, 00:15
You're going to struggle subbing the loganberry for something and have it still taste like boulevard to be fair. Since that's the main flavour in the juice.
#41 by Mojo, Jun 27. 2017, 00:44
Ok i was under the impression that loganberry and blue raspberry were the same thing?
#42 by Mojo, Jun 27. 2017, 00:46
Google says otherwise. Is sasami really the only loganberry out there?
#43 by Mojo, Jun 27. 2017, 00:48
A loganberry is just a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry. Is there a chance that it's just a regular raspberry concentrate?
#44 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Jun 27. 2017, 01:03
Well, it's been ages since I've vaped this or the original but I seem to remember that it did not taste of raspberry -pretty sure I've got every raspberry concentrate there is also.
#45 by Vapealot, Jun 30. 2017, 18:51
Just bought tpa blackberry , smells and finger tastes like boulevard.. Did you try with tpa blackberry at all ???? ... I've just mixed up your version two days ago with sasami blue raspberry as it was mentioned it's the same thing as loganberry and it's very good (clone)... I added a couple of drops of TPA smooth to help with the perfume...not sure if that will or can help at this early stage....
#46 by Vapealot, Jun 30. 2017, 18:55
Forgot to mention..I didn't use Aurora...I used cap lemon and lime to sub!
#47 by Darnell, Jul 3. 2017, 12:01
Graham the wizzard as always
#48 by Vapealot, Jul 8. 2017, 19:10
TFA blackberry is in it ....will have to play around with % wise as I think it maybe falling of at 3% after a couple of days steep...or blue raspberry has to be higher..... could start to fall of track, but I will play around with it... UK Homebrew did you play with TFA blackberry at all?
#49 by Morgo, Jul 14. 2017, 19:02
I increased the percentages slightly and left it for a 3 week steep and its so close to the original.

This is the recipe slightly altered.

Aurora (FA). 1%
Blackberry (CAP) 3.5%
Blackberry (FA) 0.75%
Citric Acid 10% 0.5%
Lemon (INAWERA) 0.5%
loganberry (sasami)1.75%
Malic Acid 10% solution 3%
Super Sweet (CAP) 0.75%

After 3 weeks the loganberry really settles down. The increase in the lemon doesn't overpower. That sugary sweet lips you get from the original is there. Its so tasty I can't put it down.

#54 by UK Homebrew info (18+), Aug 28. 2017, 21:23
Tpa sour is 20% malic acid so halve it in the recipe

Nice one
#56 by coops, Jul 28. 2018, 12:01
