It looks odd, I know, let's get that out of the way. Ever since my husband bought TPA Mary Jane, he has played around with so many profiles to try and bring a darker, more realistic vibe to it. It's a hard one to work with for sure. It can be great in lower percentages for an earthy pine, but on its own, it really doesn't represent itself well.
This is his recipe, I have just tweaked a few things here and there, and have added Lovage Root for a semi-dark sweetness. I already know the component in Lovage Root is in several of my favorite tobacco flavors, so I thought it would add that right amount of earth/sweetness. I happened to try this the last few times I have made it for him, each time with little tweaks and I really enjoy it. While TPA Mary Jane really isn't realistic beyond a sort of skunky smell, I'm really happy with how this turned out.
