How to explain this one....I really can't.. Creamy, Nutty, rich, slightly earthy? Very unique flavor with this taro and I would be lying if I said it's an easy flavor to mix, because it most definitely is not! Seems to go great with creams though and if anyone has these flavors give them a try and let me know!
This is still only a day or so old so I will report back after some time~
**It has now been after some time... This one is a steeper!! 1 month minimum before it turns into what is now 1 of my favorite juices!! It is insane what a month+ steep does for this! I highly recommend this juice to any cream lovers out there and..well..just about everyone! Taro is a love/hate flavor though, so not for everyone. **
Oh my goodness this is sooooo gooood muah ! Thanks 4 sharing as always ( at least with me hee hee ) Seriously delish made on 9/26 tried tonight 10/17 primo !
Well I just pulled it back out after almost a month and even though I don't have my sense of taste back, I can still taste enough to know it came out pretty good! I get those earthy hints and you're right it appears just enough of everything to tease your taste buds
I am so happy you sent me a huge bottle of this one. This my friend, is one killer juice. I had never even heard of the Taro flavor before seeing this recipe. You have a real way with flavors. Did you try the Taro by itself? I may increase the Shisha Strawberry just a tad when I mix it, but just because I love that flavor so much. I tend to agree with you it may be just slightly faint. I will probably raise it to about 1.5%.
P.S. I had to let my dripper cool off for about 10 minutes because I was hitting this one so much!
I just wanted to know if he made the actual recipe or a substitute one, since he was missing some things the last comment only 3 weeks ago. Nothing wrong with someone not liking something, I'm just usually curious for more info with 1 star and comments like these. Not for everyone ;)
Something tells me nope didn't get All the flavors Bc it Does make a difference believe me I have ran out and tried to make do. It makes a dofference every one of them make it what it is !
Obviously he didn't even make the right recipe and IF he did, he most definitely didn't even let it steep. I don't get trolls like this guy? If you don't like something, there's no issue with that! It's just the assholes who go around downgrading people's recipes and leaving crude comments. There's a lot of recipes I don't like on ELR but I would never go and give them a 1 star rating. I love this juice, as does everyone I have given it to but if I didn't, I wouldn't be a jackass about it. I will never understand people like this, who make a completely different recipe and then blame someone else for not liking it haha-
Keep them coming DV!
Well at least he got the "sack" part right! What a douche. Darth my friend, I've added Taro to my shopping list and will make this when I get it. Don't be discouraged by mindless wankers who rate your recipe when they didn't even make it. Most likely it takes all their available brain power just to run the heart and lungs....nothing left for the brain. Thanks for sharing all your great recipes!
Thanks guys and I'm not bothered at all! Everyone is entitled to their opinions and if that's how they go about it, I could care less. I just wanted to talk a bit more about it than a 2 word comment but oh well. I make juices for myself, not others, so people can downgrade all they want, if that makes them feel better!
I did the recipe, and i'm kinda pretty precise when i mix. It steeped 3 weeks AND it taste like shit. It's the worst thing i tasted since i vape. That said I'm pretty sure OP is a really nice guy and he deserve to vape his recipe as long as he want, as hard as he can, and have family and freinds to applaud still... we dont like the same things. I formidably ok with that and I wish him a long and properous life. Now that i added plenty of useless word to that useless comment that we couldn't live without, i will re-rate that discusting recipe to 5 stars so we will have then a perfectly useless and ridiculous rating system.
Lol I love how things just take off on the good ol interwebs. I'm totally not offended someone doesn't like something and especially when it comes to a marmite flavor like Taro. I just wanted to know if you bought the missing flavors you ordered and maybe avoid all this and everyone could just have an intelligent respectful conversation.
You are the first person to have such a strong hateful disgust for a juice when some just say it's not for them. Again, totally cool, tastes are different, I was just curious to know what it was that you didnt like...the taro, cream, earthy or whatever...but it appears with all these comments that we are passed that conversation...
I just know a couple people that don't like taro and say it tastes fungal.
I find that interesting, since I personally don't think taro tfa tastes fungal. I guess I look for why someone doesn't like something and I'm not looking because I believe they're wrong, just their take....
Just received my Taro because of this recipe as I was very, very intrigued? Then discovered I didn't have a couple of the flavours so subbed for TFA marshmallow and LB vanilla ice cream, should be ok?
Will let you know how I get on and the missing flavours are on my shopping list and will mix again when they arrive.
Looking forward to trying this one out!
Thanks for sharing.
What would give marshmallow, that toasted marshmallow flavor. I was thinking a touch of AP or Joy.. or would straight up marshmallow be an ok sub. Because here is a Taro recipe I have most of the ingredients for!!
Man that's a tough one. In all the flavors I have, I can't think of any that are similar to Toasted Marshmallow and it compliment the Taro REALLY well. I suppose you could use marshmallow and then add a caramelized flavor like brown sugar, creme brulee or catalan cream. Unfortunately it wouldn't be the same, but you may come up with something good!
In almost all my taro recipes I use toasted marshmallow because they are great together in my opinion. You may want to voyage out and get some ;)
Lars I just saw your comment! Has it been 6 months already since we talked about this?? Damn brother, I didn't realize that?! I'm glad you like it. Try the remix or the taro reading too.
Thanks!!
Yeah this is one that I always make a big ass bottle of! The remix is good too (imo) and I made it to really still stand strong months later. I also like the taro reading, more of an apple, than strawberry like taro card. I've never tried this only a day in though! Thanks my rabid brotha! ;)
LOL I did this yesterday and while I prefer the steeped version... lol I was hurrying out the door and filled my tank w/ my new bottle it was still A..maZ..ing But if you try it too soon you miss out on how the taro falls into more of a cream instead of it standing apart from the fruits and creams like it is in the beginning 4 weeks later liquid gold ! I kick myself each time I let myself run out of it !
This thread made me LOL, esp. "Now that i added plenty of useless word to that useless comment that we couldn't live without, i will re-rate that discusting recipe to 5 stars so we will have then a perfectly useless and ridiculous rating system" because the comment's so on the money. No offense to DarthV, who sounds quite reasonable, but the rest is kindergarden-worthy. (Sorry, interpersonal B.S. at work has me sensitive to cliquishness and, frankly, the chilling effects of mob rule in our world bothers me generally)..
I've dove into mixing to stop smoking for good and spending lots, maybe an unhealthy amount, of time here. But experiencing a creative Flow that's distinctly meditative, relaxing, and helpful. I'd rather a variety of candid remarks on recipes as I'm frugally investing my hard-earned cash into what I hope is a positive lifestyle change to improve my health.
I hope to mix up this recipe with the Taro I bought from user descriptions alone; I think it smells yummy and also weird, which is a definite positive IMO. Can you say Umami??! Ah. I need a good Shake n Vape, though, since I have so many creams aging that are trying my patience.
Hey KumariHPX. Yeah, people take this a little too serious at times. At the end of the day, I am just posting a few of my recipes to help give people ideas or offer up something I think is tasty.
Taro is a great flavor (to me). Very earthy, nutty and sometimes like a deep chocolate feel. You will either love it, or hate it. In my opinion, this is the perfect mix to test Taro for the first time. This is the only recipe I make all the time, and I've never lost love for it. The more you vape it, the better it gets.
Sadly it takes some time to steep, but when it does, it's magical. So if you make this, let it sit for at least 30 days before tasting it. There is a huge change from 1-2 weeks, to past the 30 day mark.
But if Taro isn't for you, feel free to bash me personally for your palette preferences ;)
DarthV, I hope never to bash anyone here -- if I do, maybe it's time to leave, huh?
I love how you describe the mix & flavor. Ironic you mention you taste a nutty flavor in Taro, as Nuts is main thang! It's that rich, healthy fats probably, bc I also like the smell of the flavor. but can't say why
Can you speak to what SB's role is in the recipe, and Apple in your other?
So, @DarthVapor, you are all going to shit bricks when you read what I did to your precious recipe! 😜 LoL
Bare with me.... First, I realized I didn't even have the same TARO. I have ECX Taro Express! My face _cracked_ BC I knew this would be a trip, as I already knew I'm making sub's cuz of my limited funds (but lots of time & interest to research flavors' characteristics, so I feel pretty good about what I used). SB totally left out for now, to focus only on Taro (which BTW IDK WTF it is, tho I'm an avid gardener).
Now, does this even resemble your recipe? I have no idea anymore.
However, I love it (even as a SnV), and that's most definitely ALL YOUR FAULT, you bastard! (Of course, I will eat almost anything, so; just saying).
Seriously, I don't love it yet, actually, but it's good. I am so intrigued with the Taro, though! Def. a root veggie but mild like potatoes (cooked, or ya know even turnips are fairly mild cooked). It is earthy as everyone says, but more like "down-to-earth" -- a solid base, simple yet unique. Straightforward, I guess. I'm anxious to see how time changes the flavor.
Well, I do have Fresh Cream (FA) on the way, but I can't be bothered to buy the more "esoteric?" flavors. I'll throw that in later & let it age.
At that point, I'll likely hate it so I'll be sure to report back ;)
Lol. First, I have both TFA and ECX taro. You can really use either or. ECX is a little sweeter but they are really close. I love both of them.
Second, Taro root comes from the taro plant, which is native to Southeast Asia and India and is a staple in diets there as well as Africa, China, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. Both the big green leaves of the plant and the root itself can be consumed when cooked. Funny thing is, is In their raw form, both are TOXIC.
There are lots of varieties of taro, from small to large and from white-fleshed to purple-flecked ones. It's most commonly used and prepared much like a potato, as it's equally starchy and similar in flavor, with taro taking on a nuttier, richer, and more complex taste overall. Compared to a white potato, it has three times the amount of fiber, and is also a rich source of potassium, iron, vitamin C, and vitamin A. Taro fries, anyone?
Anyways, I have LOADS of different recipes, a few like the one you just posted. I added SB to the taro card to fill it out more, with a sweet fruity boost. Either you'll love it, or hate it. Chances are, if you like it as a SNV, you'll love it when it steeps!
Keep me posted and if you love it, I'll send you some others that I really like
Ok... Im gonna give this another try...maybe i didnt let it steep enough... What I do remember. Taro stayed in my cotton. Its one of those.. I have run across a few... Olde tyme root beer is like that. So..dedicated rda and 4 weeks minimum... I may try the Taro at 1 to 1.5. The fence leaned towards the "not for me" side. Second chance... Of course💨💨💨💨💨
Hey there @DarthVapor! I left you a comment last month on your Taro Card Remix recipe and you suggested I try this one too. Well, they've been steeping 4 weeks now and I'm happy to say that you were absolutely right! This recipe is AMAZING!!! I actually really like both of them. They each have a different personality, and I'm having fun going back and forth. It's hard to put my finger on it, but the Taro Card has a distinct richness to it that is absolutely heavenly. Great job, man. I'm making more now so that it will be ready when the first 100 ml is gone. I'm also looking through your other recipes now for another taro mix. Any suggestions? Which other ones turned out the way you hoped they would after steeping?
Hey Jim, of course I remember! I'm glad you got around to making this one!! One of the, if not THE, favorite juices of mine!!! I'm glad you like it! There's not too many people who can get around to making this one, so I am always happy to hear the thoughts of the people who do!!
Coincidentally, I have some new Taro mixes steeping right now, so I will (hopefully) share them soon! As far as the ones that I have here on ELR, I would say give "The Taro Reading" a try. It's pretty similar to the taro card mixes, but it's a bit more fuji forward, minus the strawberry. It's been years since I have made it, so I don't remember much other than that, and the fact it was my #3 fav at the time.
Sadly, I accidentally deleted the original mix, so I had to retype another by memory. If you like these though, you will like that one. Also, I have some Taro Boba mixes (3 I think) that came out pretty good from what I remember. Give em a try and let me know!
Would you have a suggestion for substituting Vanilla Custard FLV with something from FA? Custards don't do much for me so I am reluctant to buy another one I won't use... I am thinking that both custard and catalan cream could do fine here, what do you think?
I just found this recipe, not sure if I will like it but if I do an order and they have Taro I will have to grab a small bottle to see if I love or hate it since it sounds so different!
Hope ya like it! All I can say about when I had it for the first time, was I was unsure about it. I didn't hate the flavor, it was just different. As I was experimenting with it, it started to grow on me, then I came up with this mix and I was a taro addict! lol. This recipe is a steeper though. I think the bare minimum is 3 weeks, to get a feel for where it will be. Let me know what ya think of Taro, if you get it!
@Superfrog, I just saw your comment. The custard really isn't noticeable here, for me at least. The taro is a pretty prominent flavor, so the heaviness of a custard isn't really there. The recipe has more of a creamy type back to it, than anything else. I suppose you could experiment with like a Vienna cream or something? It won't be the same of course, but who knows? Definitely not any FA's custards, since they have that damn lemon note to them
I will definitely let u know when I have tried it, probably wont be doing another order for a little while tho. I like to give feedback when I mix other peoples recipes, as when im happy with my mixes and start sharing them I hope people will give me their thoughts as that could help to give ideas on how to make it better.
Profile is really good. Worked better in an Aspire K1 than in a modern tank, where it is too strong for me. Might try diluting some for use in more airy tanks. Then I also quite like a little atomiser once in a while :)
