That twat at the top is spamming everyone's recipes. Just no need!!
Just a lonely asshole with only his hand for comfort!!
But yeah this looks great, apple butter was fucking delicious so looking fed to giving this a mix.
Well done on your win dude.
If you were going to add a fruit to it how much of % would you go..... Tfa; strawberry's for example. I haven't made this yet.... Looks interesting for sure!
@Billywilly - merely curious - are you from Pittburgh or the mid west? I went to college in Pittsburgh and the local folks often said things "this need steep" or "this need fix". I find local dialects pretty interesting.
oh yeah - I came here because I was looking to try a cannoli recipe. this one looks good. will mix it up and comment again after that.
@Goldbones - quick question. I like sugar cookie - but in small bites. how different do you think this recipe would be if I went with 2/3% percent sugar cookie and 3/4% cap VC?
@Geb you'd probably lose some of the cannoli shell taste and turn it into more of a custard. It would still be good, but much less of a cannoli. I'd mix it up just as I made it then mix up another how you think it would work best for you.
thanks for getting back to me and fair enough. I typically mix 30ml bottles but I think I'll try 15ml as described and see how it goes. If the sugar cookie turns out to be too high I'll try another 15ml batch with less cookie and more custard. Still, I vape custards probably 80% of my day so "another" custard is not the worst thing in my book. :)
One last thing given the creams and custard I'm guessing this needs at least a 2 week steep?
New to mixing - sorry for the stupid question. I don't have CAP cheesecake, but I do have TFA cheesecake graham crust - if I tried subbing that, should I bring down the sugar cookie or the biscuit? Or just keep it all the same? I have everything else.
@adio CAP NY Cheesecake has a slight tangy taste to it that adds to the ricotta taste I was going for in the filling part of this recipe. You can for sure sub things for whatever you want, but it won't be the same. If you enjoy cheesecake vapes, I highly recommend you picking up CAP NY Cheesecake!
Thanks, I did end up picking it up since I saw it listed for a couple of different recipes I wanted to try. Looking forward to this one - waiting on a steep!
Guys I need soe advice on % please, I dont like diketones and I have all the ingredients here but they are all diketone-free (v2 or DX). How should I change the % for my ingredients?
@HBA_Vape I would just try to sub them 1:1 at first to see how it is. Obviously it will not be the same, but it might be in the right direction with a long steep. After the long steep, you can adjust things to your preference for the next time. I love diketones!
I really want to try this recipe. I don't have the Biscuit though. I will definitely grab some but can I sub something, or maybe a combination on a few things in place of the Biscuit? Thanks!
I made this recipe and as much I like it, there is something very important missing. Authentic Sicilian cannoli are made with ricotta cheese I believe, and although cheesecake was used here, it is not the same as ricotta cheese. Anyone has a suggestion for a ricotta cheese flavor??
@HBA_Vape did you use the NY Cheesecake V2? I don't use V2's or DX flavors so I have no idea if they are actually similar to the regular flavors. This recipe is pretty much made for diketones and relies on them. The cheesecake flavor replicates the cheese pretty well here at least in my experience.
Mixed as described - very smooth and creamy. Never had the original (I stopped buying commercial juice last December) but this is really good. An easy light ADV. 5 stars for sure. Made a sample 30ml bottle - will mix at 60ml or larger going forward. thanks for posting. Tried to leave a 5 star review but for some reason system isn't letting me.
Fantastic recipe (again) from Goldbones. I actually liked it as a shake and vape but I can tell at 2 weeks it's gonna knock my socks off. After my shake and vape I added .5% of FA Torrone for more of the powdered sugar notes. Great work brother!!
If i were to add some strawberry or dragonfruit to this (so i can get some fruity cannoli in my life). Which would you suggest adding and what percentage would you suggest so i dont mess up the mix? I have TFA Dragonfruit, Sweet Strawberry and Strawberry (ripe)
Thank you @KC Vape Lounge, @milesmkd, @dalek67, @Orbital Joe, and everyone else! Glad y'all dig this recipe. I always make a few hundred mLs then don't make it again for a few months and it makes me realize I should make it more often. Simplicity is its best trait in my opinion.
@AstralMartian, I have never thrown strawberry or dragonfruit in this mix (at least I don't remember if I have), but I'm sure CAP Sweet Straw and Straw Ripe would do just fine in it. I'd probably go with like 2% CAP Sweet Straw and see what happens. I highly doubt that would ruin this recipe since it's simple as is. Let me know how it goes.
@milesmkd, DIYFS Holy Vanilla would be a great creamy vanilla addition, INW Custard, increase the CAP VC, maybe CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream. Think of something simple yet creamy and you'll be good to go. Oh, maybe FLV Cream since it's pretty neutral.
Finally tried this (almost) the right way. I had to sub the Cap custard because I can't do it. I used INW Custard. I also had to decrease the flavoring percentage because I use low %s... But this is bomb. Very good.
Thanks, Rin! Glad you enjoyed it. INW custard is delicious so I can see it working here. Might cause it to be a little lighter than the original but still gives the creaminess :)
Mixed this up in November and vapes most of it over Christmas. It's nice. I can't help but feel I want to add sweet raspberry to it though. I may mix it up again and add some sweet raspberry.
I just came across this and I have everything BUT the Meringue ... I have NOnnas Cake? I have some custards... can someone name a few options for substitutes and if I should use the same amount ml of whatever you suggest?
Mixed and only the smell is like a cannolo filled with soft and sweet ricotta... wow... I felt so inspired by the smell that i saw my beloved Sicily so I added a hint of pistachio FA at 0.5 %. Steep 3-4 days and I'll let you know. Thank you
Isn't that a banana Cannolo? Usually a Cannolo is not prepared with fruit but with nuts... mainly Pistacchio. I'm from Sicily so trust me. Just add 0,5 FA pistachio or 1% FA almond and you ll be in heaven.
Goldfish18, mixed this last week and it smells so delicious! Fortunately, the vape doesn't disappoint. Never had a Cannoli, but this is ace. (thumbs up icon!)
I've made 30ml and steeped it for 1 week. It's great adv sweet and smooth! I'm getting ready to mix 100ml and let it steep for about 2 3 weeks. Thanks for sharing!
I tried your recipe and I didn't enjoy it. I've had too much of the dreaded Sugar Cookie + Vanilla Custard combo, and now it makes me nauseous. Congrats on your win.
It reminds of a Cannolo biscuit. Literally only the biscuit with no filling. Recreating ricotta is almost impossible. That sweet and salty sicilian ricotta. Impossible!
But the buscuit is there!
Good flavor, I probably would have given it 5 stars but I made it alongside the other Cannoli flavor "Cannoli version 3.0 that is a TOP10 contestant in DOD mixing competition" and I like the way the shell and cream are distinct in that recipe more than this one. Both are very good though.
I mixed exactly the same ratio as mentioned in this receipt in 5 May 2018. I let it steep all this while but there is absolutely no taste. It feels like vaping just PG-VG mix. I tried to vape on a RTA, RDA with new coil. What could have gone wrong? And how can I get the taste? Any help would be appreciated.
@Rajeev Jha I'm mixing it up now, I'll let you know my experience but did you use Max VG? Flavor carries over easier for lower VG mixes, I typically use 70/30 at the highest. That's the only thing I can think of unless you have vaper's tongue or this flavor just hits your pallete differently. Try this juice first thing in the morning, that's when I can really taste flavors - since your senses reset so to speak.
@Rajeev Jha - @Cstober speaks the truth. I only mix at 60VG/40PG nowadays. If you vape recipes with CAP Sugar Cookie and/or CAP Vanilla Custard V1 in them frequently, sometimes other recipes with those flavors (like this recipe) can taste bland. Maybe let us know if you got any better taste after you last posted that comment and we can try to help some more.
@Rajeev Jha - I appreciate the nice words! Yeah most of the time recipes like this take some time to develop. I'm glad you're getting all the good flavor now!
Great job on this recipe! It's one of the best cannoli recipes that I've tasted. Smelling from the bottle, it brings vivid pictures of a fried cannoli. The vape is very creamy, and not overpowering. I'm glad to see you accomplished this with lower flavor percentages as well!
@Rajeev Jha Agreed. It has mild sweetness and a light custard taste which makes for a savory cannoli vape. It turned out well after a long steep, for me 2 weeks worked.
I copied and made exactly as your recipe states. I rarely do this because either I don't have all the flavors or I add or adjust something. I'm new to DIY and experimenting.
After a S&V I love it. Going to make more just to steep and see how much better it gets. Thank you vaping much !
I don't really get the hype about this juice, but it's OK. I tried it after 2 weeks and didn't like it at all. Left it to continue to steep and after about 1.5 to 2 months it does come together to produce a true cannoli flavor.
I'd rate it a 3.5/5 stars (a 4 because I can't rate half stars) because I'm not the biggest fan of this flavor profile. I'd probably also add 0.5-0.75% super sweet should I try it again.
Big plus though because it has no harshness, no hard throat hit and overall it's a very well balanced recipe. I mixed it with the same 70/30 VG/PG and 5mg nic. It will probably also be good with a little apricot/peach, pineapple or other fruits added to it, but I'd keep the fruits in low % to keep the main cannoli profile present. As it is here, I probably see it more as a base to work from.
@suomynona, Fair enough. This isn't really supposed to be the be-all end-all cannoli recipe. It was a recipe created with restrictions for this particular round of the contest. If I remember correctly, the restrictions were a six flavoring max (sweetener counts as a flavor), and the six flavorings could only be from TFA, FA, INW, CAP, and FW. This recipe was designed to just be a straight up cannoli.
I really do appreciate the constructive criticism, though. Reviews, inputs, and suggestions like yours are the only way people improve! Let me know what kind of tweaks you make to this recipe if you do because I'd love to give it a try. Thanks again and have a good day!
Sure, taste is subjective but overall I can still appreciate the quality and balance of the recipe.
So do you still vape this in this form or do you add something else yourself now that you're not restricted to those 6 flavors anymore?
I had to come back and comment on this recipe again. I've made my last batch 2 moths ago and have added .5% of super sweet because I like sweeter recipes. It has been steeping for 2 months and I just put it on a fresh set of coils and wick and mannnn this stuff is great! It's so full of flavor and the mouthfeel is perfect. The only thing I'm gonna change for my next batch is the INW biscuit. It's become a little bit heavy after 2 months of steeping so I'm gonna lower that to 0.5% I think that way it will be balanced more with the CAP sugar cookie to make that cannoli shell layer.
@mongo100 - Thank you for the review and I'm glad you enjoy it! These simple and pretty straight forward recipes are always my favorite. I wish I had a perfectly steep bottle of this to vape right now. It's been a while since I've made this recipe, but now I really want some. I hope your Friday is going well!
Looking forward to trying this what i would say is steep every single recipe try it as a SnV and put it some where dark, also i dont believe
in letting a mix breath like others, well known mixers know that leaving the lid off some of the recipes will lose flavour, you might not need to steep as long but you will lose flavour, be patient 4 days to 14 days and if it still does not taste right leave it as long as you can its not going any where.
@Goldfish18 I keep craving this recipe from time to time and whenever I’m back I’m fascinated just like the first time!
Amazing job on that one :) I applaud you and definitely still give it 5 5 stars 👍🏼
@Stephen, in my variation, I subbed TFA’s Meringue for FA’s, and added 2% Marshmallow and 1% Sweetener (both TFA) for extra sweetness, and the result still blows my mind. I would say go for it and let us know how that variation tasted to you. I’m guessing it may not be as rich, but the difference taste wise wouldn’t be huge, and you’d still end up with a very yummy recipe ☺️
I haven't tested it yet but I'm italian and Cannoli use to have a STRONG, sugary vanilla flavor. Is it the case here? I remember Cap Vanilla Custard as not being very strong on the vanilla..
After a SFT of NYCC I had really gone off it, the super cheesy note in it over the first month or two seemed to negatively impact whatever recipes I tried with it.
But I gave this a shot just to use up some ingredients.. Yum! Just tried it after 10 days and while there's obviously some to go before the flavours really sing it's delicious! Great balance, looking forward to seeing how it progresses. If it goes the way I think it's going it'll be an ADV for sure.
I've been using this one on-and-off since the prior comment, and I have noticed some consistent quirks.
That aforementioned 10-day mark seems to be a real sweet spot for the flavour, anywhere around 2 weeks steeped it is mouth-wateringly delicious. But once you reach a month and above, oddly enough where you'd expect some of the concentrates to really open up, it just sort of mushes out into a really bland and uninteresting flavour. I've tested this on my unwitting partner, for the same result; At 2 weeks, "mmm what is THIS, this is really good!"; At 6 weeks, "errr.. what even IS this, it doesn't taste of anything".
That isn't to say I wouldn't recommend it, as in its prime it is delicious. Just maybe consider mixing it in small amounts to be used within a strict timeframe.
That makes sense @Rob. This recipe was developed on short notice for a contest which meant the person reviewing our recipes didn't have time to fully steep things and neither did I. Glad you still enjoy it in small batches. Thanks for the kind words!
Made a 50ml sample, tested it over 12 months. Unfortunately, the flavor fades somehow after time, so be aware if you plan to mix 100 ml+. I know, it's mostly basic ingredients.
