Notes
5 Pawns Bowden's Mate has been an ADV for me for a very long time. When I started DIYing, one of my goals was to create an interpretation worthy of the real thing. I tried every clone recipe out there I could find - none came even close. More than 6 months and 20 versions later, the one below ticks all the boxes for me - a really simple recipe compared to some of the others tried.

The Peppermint, Menthol and Koolada percentages below are as close to the real juice as one can get imo, but feel free to play around with these to suit your personal taste.

The INW Chocolate starts coming into its own after about 10 days. A 4 week steep is optimal.

EDIT: Since the old formula of INW Milk Chocolate is becoming scarce, I have replaced it with JF Milk Chocolate, which works perfectly in its place.

Fantastic recipe. i was a massive fan of Bowdens, but not of its pricetag.
This is a great recipe that fits the profile nicely. ADV for me now.

Thank you, and the same to you and yours DraGonEyeGR.

Lovely recipe @Andre. It's closer than I ever got. I do find that it benefits from a month's steep. That way the peppermint fades and the chocolate comes through into balance.
#5 by Andre, Jan 13. 2017, 09:51
Thank you @Pisces. Glad you are enjoying it. Yes, a longer steep certainly is beneficial.

I normally enjoy tobacco profiles and thought I would try this for something different. Not being a mint/menthol fan I didn't have too high an expectation but to my surprise I really enjoyed this. Nice cool and refreshing mint chocolate. This is a winner well done.

This has become my "spoil me" juice. When I'm looking for something gooooood. Extremely well balanced, and just... yum.

Andre....this is by far one of the BEST clone's I've tried. I've not found anything as good as this. Thanks!

I am running out of old formula INW chocolate. Has anyone tried it with the new formula? I have also been told Jungle Flavors Chocolate is similar to INW Milk Chocolate
#17 by peterj, Jun 30. 2017, 09:53
Hey Andre, looks perfect and almost ready to mix. However, can't get hold of FA Mild Winter here in the UK - any recommendations for an alternative peppermint?
#18 by Andre, Jun 30. 2017, 09:59
Hi peterj. TPA Peppermint should be ok.

Congrats on your recipe. Any idea if FW/TFA Milk Chocolate can work as substitutes? Because I can't find INW V1 or JF pretty much anywhere in Europe.
#21 by Andre, Sep 28. 2017, 00:09
Hi ToyMaker. I have not tried either of those so cannot say if they will work as substitutes. I have made it with FW White Chocolate at 1.5 % in the place of INW/JF Milk Chocolate. Of course that gives a white chocolate taste, which is quite good, but does take it away from the Bowden's Mate vibe.

Does INW (milk chocolate that is becoming scarce) of make INAWERA???
#23 by titi14, Dec 2. 2017, 11:22
i.e this? http://www.zerobacco.gr/en/e-liquid-diy/flavours/inawera-139/inawera-milk-chocolate-10ml-flavour.html?limit=100

Titi14, I use TPA double chocolate. Works like a charm. However: DON’T vape it until it steeps at least for 20-25 days (until it gets this nice honey-like color). You’ll have missed almost everything the recipe has to offer.

I do w/o Koolada and replace Mild Winter (Peppermint) (FA) to pappermint (FW), 15 days steeping, its not bad I like it, not hard vape, not strong, miity sweety(medium) loved! Thank You for recipe :)
#28 by Krayfish404, Mar 15. 2018, 11:06
This is very nice yes, thank you Andre. I didn't have the chocolate so I used the same percentage in Double Chocolate Clear TFA. Like a charm.
#29 by Monotom, May 19. 2018, 01:09
@ToyMaker - did you mean Cap Double Chocolate?
#30 by Monotom, May 19. 2018, 01:10
oh wait... Cap and TPA both have a double chocolate. Sorry about that... At what % did that work out for you?
#31 by atssec97, Aug 28. 2018, 13:13
I found this to be a very nice vape! Well balanced and very tasty. The mint and cooling is a bit much at first but after a good long steep (a month or two) they settle very nicely. The smooth chocolaty mint aftertaste lingers making you want more! Very well done and much appreciation for sharing!

#34 by mattheos, Feb 24. 2019, 21:01
Great recipe. I love it. Thanks.
#35 by Stormz, Mar 3. 2021, 07:25
Great recipe. Right out of the mix, I get a strong peppermint, koolada, and a bit of vanilla on the exhale. Hoping the chocolate comes through with some steep time. But you definitely nailed the peppermint and coolness of this vape. Well done!

Doesnt taste at all like bowdens mate to me.. how long do you steep for? I know 5 pawns steeps there juices for months before they sell them so maybe thats the issue.
