EXCELENT right after mixing and shaking! Great "shake and Vape" made it with the recommended 1.8% rose candy and vaping it side by side with the original it's pretty difficult to tell which is which :)
I just worked this up with the 1.8% rose candy. I did a 3ml bottle as a sample, shook for 30 seconds and dropped it into a cheap little ultrasonic cleaner for 1 full minute in warm water. This is a spot on clone! Great for a shake and vape!
Ether I did something wrong in the mixing process or I don't know.
I mixed 3 different batches 10ml each. 1 without any Rose Candy, 1 with .8% Rose Candy and 1 with the 1.8% Rose Candy.
They all taste pretty strange. Harsh like i just have bite in the hard "shell" of the melons instead of the juicy fruitflesh. The Bavarian Cream is not present at all. And it leaves a burning sensation on my tongue.
The moment the burning sensation fades away i get a very dull and distant taste of the Cantaloupe for a few seconds.
All 3 mixes have steeped for a few days now and it didn't change at all.
Can anyone point out my problem? Maybe my PG/VG dillutants are wonky? (Both Inawera which I found lots of reports that they aren't that good)
Aside from the tasting issue, it smells awesome, I just wish it would taste the way it smells.
honestly I havent had any issue Mixing. I have been using Wizard Labs pg/vg. When dripping i make it max VG and run .5 - 1% TPA smooth and let it steep a couple days tends to kill any burn it will have
Isn't TPA Smooth exactly what is meant to "eliminate" any harshness? Maybe you should state the use ether in the recipe itself or in the note section if that's my issue. Just an idea.
And just it might matter, I'm using a Wotofo Sapor with a 24g Kanthal @ 0.34 Ohms and a SMOK TFV4 with the same coil setup on the dual-coil RBA.
Since I don't have any TPA Smooth on hand I think I'll try to mix some 2ml samples with lowered flavor percentages because I think the harshness comes from the TPA Cantaloupe.
Haven't tried the original, but I tried this recipe with TPA honeydew and capella honeydew and I much prefer the capella honeydew version as it's much sweeter and more to my taste.
I made a little "experiment" trying to find the flavor that is causing the harshness. It actually comes from the Honeydew which smells exactly like the liquid tastes, it stings in my nose and tastes very harsh. Maybe i just got a bad batch of the flavor itself.
Guess I'll try it with the CAP Honeydew at the same percentage and experiment a bit with the TPA Honeydew percentage. Maybe only 2% and make up the missing flavor with an extra 1% of the Bavarian Cream and an extra 2% of the Watermelon or something like that.
But I still try this one with the suggested 0.5 - 1% TPA Smooth.
Swapped out the TPA Honeydew with CAP Honeydew Melon at the same percentage and damn, this is a fantastic juice. Haven't vaped the original Madrina in a LONG time but as far as I remember it tasting, this juice is pretty spot on.
I just ordered Watermelon TPA in order to try this recipe, but it doesn't smell like watermelon at all, could you please check your watermelon TPA and tell me your opinion?
@nakillo it's subjective. but for me the TPA watermelon tasted fruity and watery (basically ok) it's just that I find it hard to relate the flavouring to a real watermelon...
any way I did mixing this recipe just like @rukaUrushibara didn't like the harshness so I cut everything in 2/3 turn out better... :) thank you @decafsteak.
dunno i made this exactly but very harsh taste, its the cantaloupe i think, smell is right, but omg the taste is not right. maybe my cantaloupe is bad? i read from more people the tpa cantaloupe is not so good. anyway ordered CAP version will try with that, as i badly want madrina :)
I have Honeydew II (TPA), is that ok? or is it vastly different than what you use? Also, I ordered Cantaloupe (TPA) for the sake of trying this recipe, and it smells almost like a grape candy. Is it possible They may have mislabeled my bottle, or is that just what it's supposed to smell like?
ok today i tried the original madrina from a collegue, the smell is spot on. the taste is about the same, but my clone mix feels harsh, i made this clone about 3 weeks ago. didnt it steep long enough? or would some tpa smooth help out?
@knono2 : honeydew II is more fresh honeydew as oposed to candy like honeydew on the original, and yes tpa cantaloupe doesnt really resemble cantaloupe...
@Hakaog try lowering your flavoring with the same proportion. I did mine by like 75% strength of the original recipe above. So my total flavoring is about 15%
Was doing 66% but it's too low for me. Or perhaps its the nic? Recipe is 6mg i did mine at 3mg.. hope that helps
Just got around to mixing this last night. Had to use Honeydew 2 as the site I used didn't have the other. I must say even right after mixing this smells 100% and the taste is very close even without a steep. I used to love madrina. You get 5 stars for sure with this one!
I have never tried the real thing but I gotta say......this is by far one of the best vapes I have ever tried. I have tried thousands of flavors and none I could vape more than a day and this is my ADV. Great Job!
This has been my all day vape since I posted that comment, making 100ml at a time, and it's been great. Great when it's first made, and great when it steeps. The watermelon ended up being too sweet for me so I removed it.
I threw it in the back of the drawer. Maybe after a few months I can stand it. It just seemed to contaminate all my o-rings with that strong taste for weeks after. I had to disassemble and soak them in alcohol.
tpa watermelon itself is very artificial. Compared to the fantastic watermelon from FA it´s just awful but in this recipe tap is giving me the "right" artificial taste.
Love this! I'm high nic (12) so I increased all the melons to 6%, plus going with the CAP cantaloupe. As for Rose Candy, ordinarily the dime-store granny-perfume rose scent makes me nauseous, like sickly green nauseous, but for some reason not in this. Thankfully, because imo without that nasal note at the end it's just not madrina. I can understand how this might not appeal to some, taste is subjective chemistry. ie, everyone I know loves CAP sweet mango, for me it's the exact reproduction of vomit.
Thanks for posting this recipe! After some testing, I went with the full 1.8% Rose Candy but replaced the 6% TFA Honeydew with 4% TFA Honeydew II and 2% Cap Honeydew Melon. The Cap Honeydew Melon adds a little sweetness and softens the Honeydew II notes just the right amount.
