Notes
Let steep for two weeks - A month is better!

Lowered the nic level and increased the VG :)

You should be able to use your preferred ratio.

You can leave out the EM if you don't vape it fairly fast - EM tends to mute the flavors a bit over a longer time period.

I've successfully added 0.7-1% Hazel Grove (Hazelnut) (FA) to it - the taste reminds me of Nutella :)

You always have great recipes. Gonna have to try this one too!
#2 by Lars, Jan 31. 2014, 13:18
Thanks :) This has been my all day vape for the past month :)
#3 by jzerba2013, Feb 20. 2014, 22:40
Ive never used Ethyl Maltol crystals before. How do you add them to the recipe?
#4 by Lars, Feb 21. 2014, 16:29
You put one part Ethyl Maltol crystals and 9 parts PG in a bottle and shake. I had to heat my bottle repeatedly in the micro wave (3 second bursts) then shake - It took a little while :)
#5 by Ryuuzaki, Mar 23. 2014, 10:07
Does the Vanilla flavor come out later in the steeping process? I have one that's been steeping for 3 days now and I tested it because I kind of couldn't wait haha. Anyways it was good, but the vanilla taste was extremely faint (at least to me). I guess I could just wait and see haha.
#6 by Lars, Mar 23. 2014, 13:02
The French Vanilla is a background note :) To me the whole mix is plenty vanilla, but you can probably up the percentage of it, if you'd like more vanilla :) I love this mix! It's really best after 2 weeks, but definitely vapable before ;)
#7 by jzerba2013, Mar 23. 2014, 16:36
I love it! It has great notes all around. Everytime I vape it I get a different flavor. I made this and had a buddy try it once, he had me make 120ml of it for him lol
#8 by Ryuuzaki, Mar 24. 2014, 00:19
Yeah I'm not getting much Vanilla, but it's only been steeping for 3 days. Plus I highly suspect Vapers Tounge as I have been on a Custard binge for a few weeks, I cant really taste the vanilla in any of my mixes haha.
#9 by Draconis Vaporz, May 6. 2014, 03:59
This sounds promising. I'm gonna have to try it. Wonder if the premixed 5% Ethyl Maltol will work instead of using the crystals?
#10 by Lars, May 6. 2014, 10:30
It will - Though my EM is a 10% dilution... :) EM is not strictly necessary. If you like a strong vanilla custard, you can up it by 1-2% - I love it at this level (also without EM).
#11 by Draconis Vaporz, May 6. 2014, 14:58
Ahh ok, yeah I love the custard taste, been on a custard or PB kick lately.
#12 by hsrob1, May 19. 2014, 00:11
Careful about diacetyl/acetoin if you're on a custard binge...
#13 by JUST BLOWIN STEAM, May 19. 2014, 20:22
so if your em is a 10% dilution then how much should you use?
#14 by Lars, May 19. 2014, 20:33
The recipe (and more or less all recipes using EM) is a 10% solution :) So just follow the recipe - But the "general" EM usage says 0.5-1% for this purpose.
#15 by wiggy77, Oct 2. 2014, 11:25
made this few days ago my first ever mix over the moon with the flavour
#16 by nicobeak, Jan 6. 2015, 01:37
daath, delicious!
#17 by BunnyT, Jan 30. 2015, 15:28
This is really a good recipe. I steeped it 2 weeks. Everything came together and it tastes great. Thanks!
#18 by Twisted, Feb 4. 2015, 18:27
Very nice man love it it made a thirty mil of this and one of this plus 2%maple three drops sweetener love em both
#19 by Amy***, Feb 8. 2015, 20:22
Is the 70/30 ratio essential to the recipe Daath I can't handle that much of ? I want to make this thou.
#20 by Lars, Feb 8. 2015, 20:27
No, you should be able to use the PG/VG ratio of your choice, Amy***! :)
#21 by Amy***, Feb 8. 2015, 20:46
Kewl !!! I'm off and I want to finally make those shake n vapes and a few others u guys were talking up ❗️
#22 by eni87, Feb 17. 2015, 09:44
what is diferrance when if flavour same 12% but ratio pg/vg is 60/40?
#23 by Lars, Feb 17. 2015, 11:34
I didn't notice a big difference in flavor when changing PG/VG-ratios.
#24 by greeneperson, Feb 18. 2015, 23:56
Let the steeping begin!
#25 by greeneperson, Mar 28. 2015, 23:15
It's just OK. It NEEDS at least a two week steep.
#26 by Chaseyboi, Jul 8. 2015, 21:06
Mixed this up at 60/30 VG PG 6mg and put it on the magnetic mixer with a little heat for 30mins. WOW very nice. Will leave to steep for a few days as the ducle de leche is coming through a bit strong for my taste but confident this will tone down and let the other flavours shine through. Thanks for a great recipe. Can see this becoming a ADV.
#27 by xerchois, Oct 3. 2015, 23:51
can I use vanilla custard from TFA as substitute for capella vanilla custard v1?
#28 by Lars, Dec 21. 2015, 04:14
@xerchois, Sorry for the way too late answer :P You could, but it would be a completely different recipe :) hehe there's a pretty big difference between them...
#29 by Shawn Evans, Jan 4. 2016, 22:22
i wonder how this would taste with some cappuccino by cappella
#30 by Lars, Jan 5. 2016, 00:13
Shawn Evans - I am guessing pretty good - Maybe along the lines of the Kopiko coffee candies? :)
#31 by Shawn Evans, Jan 5. 2016, 21:46
might give that a go once my flavors on order come in
#32 by Chuck, Jan 6. 2016, 01:12
This is one of my favorite's. Has a way of growing on you. After a month of steep it is really good. Always have a bottle of this steeping. My preference is to leave out the EM . Thanks
#33 by Lars, Jan 27. 2016, 22:24
I'm very glad that you seem to find it as satisfying as I do! :D
#34 by Drinkmilk, Mar 10. 2016, 22:00
Awesome! Just awesome...
#35 by BoyHowdy, Mar 14. 2016, 05:54
Good recipe , thank you for the share.I had to sub the FV for (TPA)French Vanilla Creme at the same 1.0%.
#36 by UncleTopher, Apr 13. 2016, 18:38
awesome. I have been burning through my custard with failures. Finally found what seems like it will work (from the positive reviews) AND I leanred a little something about Custard and Steep/Cure time. I have been pulling them out of my Curing Cave @ 1 week....going to up that to 2 weeks on everything custardy...which is almost everything I make. There is ONE recipe called "Space Milk" made by a local shop I have been trying to emulate....I think the Dulce De Leche may get me there. I have been way off so far. Thanks for the recipe!!
#37 by Judih, Apr 15. 2016, 06:07
Amazing. 5*s plus
#38 by Machinist2, May 8. 2016, 05:32
Great mix Been making for long time now
I go thru so much I went to cap v2 and DDL from FW
After 4 to 5 weeks is great vape
I still make with cap v1 and DDL tpa just a little different
#39 by norwegianvaper, Aug 28. 2016, 20:15
@Lars- This look very tasty and good. Do you think I can swap the French Vanilla with French Vanilla Deluxe TFA, if so should I lower the %? The OT. I have tried and tried several times to post both reply, new topics in the frum section. I am logged in there, but i can`t for the life of me find where to write after I click the reply button? I have try to send a private message to "Daath", but same problem. What am I doing wrong?
#40 by Lars, Aug 28. 2016, 21:17
I would try the same % :) If it's too weak after a couple of weeks, then up it slightly to 1.2-1.3%...

No sure what you mean - I can see that you've replied to a lot of posts back in May and before... Could you send me some screenshots of what you do? My email is just lars@ and then this domain :)
#41 by norwegianvaper, Aug 29. 2016, 00:48
@ Lars. I can do that tomorrow. It will be easier to explain in Norwegian. Do you read that? Danish is easy to read :) Thank you for your fast reply.
#42 by norwegianvaper, Sep 3. 2016, 14:14
@Lars. Is it a good idea if, I make in example 200 ml of this, to leave out the EM, and just ad it to the bottle I (2o ml at 0.1 % each) fill for vaping on a shorter time? Or do the EM need to steep among the other flavors and nicotine base?
#43 by Lars, Sep 3. 2016, 14:21
@norwegianvaper - You can do that, but you can safely leave out the EM. I don't use much EM these days, and this recipe is fine without it :)
#44 by c_collins86, Feb 2. 2017, 16:10
Awesome! Just awesome...
#45 by Lolly, Mar 5. 2017, 12:52
Really enjoying this! Made minus the EM and it's had a two month steep. This is a lovely custard and isn't too heavy so easily an ADV. Thanks @Lars 😃
#46 by Lars, Mar 5. 2017, 14:45
Lolly, thanks :)

Try adding 0.7-1% Hazel Grove (Hazelnut) (FA) to it, shake then vape :) It's reminiscent of nutella ;)
#47 by Lolly, Mar 5. 2017, 14:53
Ooooh I definitely will 👍
#48 by Hasnain, Apr 2. 2018, 06:15
Hey Lars,

What would the total flavour percentage be for mouth to lung Vaping?
And I’ve got TFA Vanilla Custard with me, should I use it as a direct replacement for Capella or should I use a bit more or lesser? Do let me know, thanks!
#49 by Lars, Apr 2. 2018, 18:22
Hi Hasnain, I use this one as MTL - Not sure how it would be with TPA, but it should be OK with no % change... :)
#50 by Hasnain, Aug 26. 2018, 13:12
Thank you 👍🏻
#51 by Lama, Sep 3. 2018, 02:36
THX dude!
#52 by Jim-Bob, Dec 16. 2020, 09:18
@Lars ... If I added say 2-3% Capella NY Cheescake, would the requirement for the 0.10% of EM become more or less relevant? I appreciate this isn't necessarily a simple question, but any feedback would be greatly apprecated. TIA
#53 by Lars, Dec 16. 2020, 10:20
I would just remove the EM all together - maybe even lower the Vanilla Custard by 2% as well - I bet it's great with NY Cheesecake added :) That almost sounds like Ole Frederiksen's "Grant's Vanilla Custard My Way" :)
#54 by uncle mick, Sep 18. 2023, 16:31
It's a great recipe. Thank you, Lars.
