Notes

This is another of my early recipes, one that i still love. Butter Rum Lifesavers are one of my all time favorite candies and this is a good imitation. Due to the heavy chemical smell of the Butter Rum it will require at least two weeks curing time, leaving the lid off will release the good smell and the bad so a lengthy curing is an alternative. Several people told me its a great shake and vape, i disagree but you may want to try it right away as you may be in the group that likes it fresh.

Hope you enjoy!

This recipe looks really familiar. Did you recommend this one to me a while back ago? Anyway, this is a great mix and it's the only recipe I use Butter Rum in so far
#2 by Ken O'Where, May 9. 2015, 02:02
Yep, on Reddit, hehe. Decided to post some of my older recipes to see if anyone makes any excellent modifications.

Butter Rum, in low %'s enhances caramel very nicely. I use it in a couple of my custard mixes that it seems i havent posted yet.

Glad you liked it TWO, if you ever play around with it holler and let me know.

Finally something I can use Butter Rum in, will play around with it & post back if I come up with something good.

Made your recipe today and had to try it, well my wife had to try it right away. Must say it's pretty good right off, hope there's some left in a week. Will be making more for sure.
#5 by Ken O'Where, Dec 9. 2015, 05:55
Glad you like it, Cloyce. Right off it has that chemical smell so i let it cure/steep for appx a month. Thats when it really shines.
#6 by Alisa, Jan 2. 2016, 18:18
MAde this and LOVE the way it smells today.... only 3 days steeping so far, but I wanna drink it. lol
#7 by Ken O'Where, Jan 6. 2016, 06:35
@Alisa: I have 8oz mixed and it has been curing for 3 months, hehe. Think ill break it out in the morning. Glad you like! Sometimes simple is better.
#8 by Alisa, Jan 9. 2016, 03:26
I let it breathe overnight after mixing and it's been steeping now for 10 days. It's a GREAT vape today. I'll be using this up, so making more tonight! Thank you so very much.

Butter Rum (LA) is one of the few flavorings that i feel can benefit from a little breathing, that acetone smell..
#10 by KittyVapes, Jul 21. 2016, 04:44
Thank you so much for this simple recipe. This is the best flavor and really tastes like Butter Rum Lifesavers. Making a large batch so I can have this in my daily rotation.
#11 by Ken O'Where, Jul 21. 2016, 19:10
@KittyVapes: Glad you enjoyed, i love this vape. Smooth, creamy and sweet just like the candy, which is one of my all time favorites.
#12 by Lokes, Sep 9. 2016, 16:18
I'll have to give this a try since I've got so many drams of the Rum and it takes a long steep just like the custard so it seems a match made in heaven. Ken, if you could take a look at what I did with the Rum and give me some feedback that would be great.

@Lokes: Sorry it took me so long to reply. Your recipe looks delicious! Sadly i dont have all the flavorings or i would give it a try.
#14 by Lokes, Sep 15. 2016, 17:46
Thanx Ken. Yeah I enjoy it. I'm going to go and add more information to my recipes for the flavor profiles.

and adapt it I did... This is a great recipe, and I also loved Butter Rum Lifesavers as a kid ...spot on flavor. Check out my adaptation here

Nice combination. This is pretty much what I had in mind. Re: forum.e-liquid-recipes.com/t/butterscotch-only-vape/25261/10
Going to play by trying to get a touch more creaminess/wetness. Might be worth a try.
#17 by Morfeeus, Apr 27. 2017, 06:31
Made this tonight and added 1% sweetner and OMG. It's great as a S&V and I just know its going to be amazing as it steeps. It really is spot on to a Butter Rum Lifesaver. Thanks Ken!

Thanks, all. This is still one of my favorite, it ages incredibly well too. I have vaped it at a year and it was still very good.

Glad y'all enjoy. :)

quite nice mr. ken

I'm one of those people who don't like the taste of Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP), so I mixed this up with Vanilla Swirl [TPA]. I let it steep the 2 weeks you recommended and I Love It!. Mixing a larger batch now! Thanks for sharing.
#21 by MommaBH, Sep 14. 2017, 04:09
Oh my Gawd! I made this and it got lost in my steep shelf for 3 months! This is incrediblely good! I will make more! Thanks so much for sharing!
#22 by Mr. Candid, Oct 6. 2017, 03:17
Very tasty!, a friend liked it so much he stole the bottle I was steeping. to be fair, he did leave $20 in its place.
#23 by Ken O'Where, Oct 23. 2017, 00:56
Thanks fols, glad you are all enjoying it. It is an oldie but goodie.

@Mr. Candid: Tell that bugger you need another 20 for the curing time! hehe.

Hnestly it is ot bad off the shake, the butter rum is not as pronounced though. I made sixty mils, I addd .75 EM and .75 Sucralose, also I added.5% ea. of INW Crème Brulee and FLV Vanilla Pudding, that combo is used by a lot of mixers I see, as an Old School or Poor Man's Custard. So now I got 3% Custard.....kinda. Ken what do you get here when you bump up the custard notes a bit, what can I expect....
side note: I didn't have Bttr Rum but I was in a hobby store (Michael's Arts and Crafts) and I saw LA bottles on shelf at 3.00 each for 3.7 ml dram bottles. so I got a few and then did an ELR search, your the most highy rated butter rum recipe.
For me, I hope the Butter Rum is very pronounced in this recipe

Made a batch of this and is very cloudy!! Is this normal?
#26 by HDCowboy, Jul 29. 2019, 20:48
Very good as a shake-n-vape, even better after a weeks steep! Reminds me of Tasty Vapors Butter Rum that I love so much, as a matter of fact if I can hardly tell the difference!! I put a little sweetener in it though as that's the way I order Tasty Vapors version. Tasted a little of both on my finger and they are almost identical! Good Job!! 5 stars!!
#27 by Keyzersöze, Apr 17. 2022, 11:37
Simple yet rly good and satisfying!
#28 by Hairy Wombat, Jan 22. 2023, 03:10
I really liked this Ken but wasnt to sure at first as it smelled more like paint stripper after mixing.
A 30ml test bottle didnt long last at all so will be making much more.
#29 by Hairy Wombat, Feb 10. 2023, 07:59
So I chewed through the 10ml bottle of butter rum but now cant get anymore anywhere other than overpriced 3.7ml bottles. Turns out Lorann wont supply vape vendors anymore so really hard to get in Aus.
Has anyone tried subbing with the Flavor West Butter Rum, is it as good?
#30 by McDuckie , Sep 18. 2023, 23:50
I’m really surprised I’ve never mixed this Ken. After a few week steep Iri is really good, but as you said sometimes simple is better. I used LA Butter Rum for something similar. I mixed with TPA Caramel Candy and INW Nougat for a Brach’s Butter Rum Royal.
#31 by Ken O'Where, Sep 19. 2023, 01:47
I just saw your recipe, McDuckie, it looks so good. This here was from back when i still wrote my recipes in a notebook and did all the calculations myself, and by that i mean my wife did the maths.

I mixed this about 6 months ago and still loved it but the curing is long. Ive been trying a remix with Butter Rum NF as this one is getting harder to find.

Glad you liked it!
