This recipe started out as an adaptation but has evolved more into an in "inspired by". Either way, it has inspired me and it might inspire you as well. π
This recipe is for a thick Dutch apple pie with a thick pie crust of half butter crumble dough, half marzipan with heaps of juicy apple and cinnamon filling, slowly baked golden brown. Just as we used to make when I was a pastry baker in Holland, many years ago. Opening the bottle is like opening the oven door. ππ
Add sweetener as desired. Personally I like about 0,75% of sucralose but that's up to preference.
I always find graham cracker to come through as burned plastic untill fully matured. I recommend at least two weeks steeping.
Add up to 0.25% inawera biscuit and 0.25% if you want more crust.
This looks very interesting... The creation of a truly good apple pie is kind of my holy grail of diy, havn't found it yet. I need marzipan and applepop! What's FA Applepop like? There are no notes on here about it... Also, I'm curious how the Lemon Sicily is working in this recipe?
Applepop is a candied apple flavor. The subtle caramel notes of the sugary coat integrated into the crust nicely. The lemon is there only to brighten up the apple a bit, it does not play a role as a flavor but I guess you could make it by upping the percentage a bit. Let me know. π
Fa marzipan is an amazing flavor but amazingly strong as well. Even at this percentage, it is present in the vape. Some people dilute it for easier measuring.
