This was a quick throw together idea as I am currently steeping several tobacco mixes, banana pudding batches, and a new Twinkie mix. This is a Pebble Cheesecake with Ice Cream, topped with Frosted Flakes. Yummers! π
RF Fruit Pebbles is an interesting one for sure. I think what RF was going for was a blend of natural orange, artificial lemon, and subtle cherry in a way that one flavor would not wholly dominate the other. Instead of tasting just lemon, all three flavors are present and can be identified seperately. I think it's use in a cheesecake or ice cream where it is not meant to be an in your face cereal flavor is perfect due to the balance of fruits in RF Pebbles. Using a secondary Flake or Circle cereal certainly boosts the grain and lemon which is what we have come to expect in these types of flavors. Don't have RF Fruit Pebbles? It's all good, just bump up the Fruity Flakes to 3-3.5% if you prefer.
Recipe Note:
Slight Change, Made 09/20: Addition of Fruity Flakes FW
I love this mix, I absolutely love it. It seems the Fruit Pebbles RF is the exact kind of Fruity Cereal I enjoy, grainy and perfect, light on the fruit flavor, just the right amount of blending lemon and orange to not overload your palate. I am making one slight change, which is just the addition of Fruity Flakes FW at 2%. I could very well just increase the RF Pebble, but I want the two different flavors to bounce off each other in the recipe, sort of how using Fruit Circles and Fruity Flakes together both bring differing qualities to a mix. The Fruit Pebbles RF needs a little help in reaching it's cereal potential, but I love the flavor itself even if it is a tad on the lighter side.
10/01 Recipe Edit:
Using 3% Purilum Cheesecake in place of Capella New York Cheesecake, the Purilum Cheesecake is just spectacular, rich and creamy with no tangy afertaste. It is a superb flavor. I also raised the Fruity Flakes to 2% as they were getting quite drowned out by other flavors. I still wanted the Sweet Cereal Flakes to be more a main cereal than the Pebbles, and the new percentages work perfectly for that. Reduced VBIC (FW) from 3% to 2.5% as the Purilum Cheesecake really does the heavy lifting being so rich and creamy.
I haven't tried the RF version of Condensed Milk, but according to the notes it should be a good substitute at around 0.25% as it looks to be a tad more potent than the Purilum Condensed Milk. To me, the Purilum Condensed Milk tastes more like a slightly sweet evaporated milk, not quite the thickness you would expect from canned sweetened condensed milk, so it works nicely where a milk flavor is needed. I'm sure it will work really well, and if it's a flavor you like to use, that would probably make it all the more yummy. π
I mixed this before with just the FW Fruity Flakes, left out the PUR Cond Milk and upped the TPA Dairy Milk a smidge and lowered the Sweet Cereal Flakes a tiny bit and we all really enjoyed it. I just ordered RF Fruit Pebbles and CAP Fruit Circles (SL) today so I look forward to mixing this one up again using the RF Monday when I get my order in. Thanks for sharing and great work on this one..
You will really enjoy the Cap SL Fruit Circles, trust me. It is the end all for superb fruit cereal flavors, even if it needs a little help from other flavors. It's delicious. It does need a little higher percentage to shine, usually 3-4% as it's quite mellow. But it's phenomenal. The RF Fruit Pebbles is an odd one to work with definitely, but I enjoy it. When you taste it, you will realize what I mean on them not emphasizing one flavor to stand out (like lemon with most cereal flavors). I have had some real hit or miss instances with RF flavors, some I like, and some do not translate well beyond oral tasting. It's a great cherry flavor also, it doesn't taste syrupy, or medicinal, but really well balanced. The problem with it is, it's not balanced toward a certain cereal profile. It does need help from a secondary fruit cereal. Try the CAP Fruit Circles on its own, then decide the flavor additives you want. If you want Cherry, slight Orange, the RF Fruit Pebbles is the way to go.
I had heard good things about the RF Fruit Pebbles and I had several people tell me the CAP SL Fruit Circles was outstanding but most of them say to use it well above 5% which I just cant bring myself to do lol I usually SF test between 1-5% and from there I'm usually able to tell for sure where the sweet spot for me is going to be with each flavor as far as their % in my mixes. After I started mixing at lower % mixes with flavor % totals more than roughly 12-13% max just dont taste right to me, they are usually so over powering to my taste buds, I can only vape 1 commercial juice and that's the Pop Deeze every other one ice tried to vape that I always liked before mixing low %'s tastes so yucky and "off" now. I have a popcorn recipe I'd love for you to try out. I have it posted on ATF it's called Movie Time. I'd love to get your feedback on it. Seeing as how you and I have such similar tastes it seems like. As always thanks for sharing and good job yet again.. π
