Notes
Flipping through my mixer journal and came across this.
This is one of the very first mixes I made back in the day. I know I took inspiration from somewhere but it has been so long I can't remember where...
I did changed the %s to meet my own personal taste though-

Very light on the coconut (how I like it) and the ripe pulls through very nicely with just enough bav to give it the creaminess it needs-
Min 1 week steep but after a month it is fantastic!

I think I adapted this from Lars before I was a member here, so if you like stronger coconut give his a try!

I've got one of these saved too from Lars.

You're a man after my own heart.

This was my ADV for a long while but I reduced BC down to 3% as anything more gives me heart burn sensation.

And I too found the original 1.5% Coconut Extra too intense on the coconut.

Thanks brother! I've had this recipe for such a long time and I really love it!
I think that's where I adapted it from... I did a search and his is the closest but it's been so long I can't remember.
For me the coconut is perfect, I don't like a heavy coconut, going to try this with flavorah too

This is a wonderful recipe! Very simple and perfect amount of coconut! I love the ripe straw after taste too!

I can't take the credit for this one but thank you! The original I believe came from Lars which had a bit more Bav & coco

I like this one just as it is ;) I'm with both you guys on the coconut!

Genius liquid!!!! thank you very much!!!!! :-)
Darth, do u have any good new ideas about coconut?
#8 by zerOtox, Jan 22. 2016, 22:05
What does it mean @ 1 SG??
#9 by Brian Benham, Jan 28. 2016, 18:18
@zerOtox I believe @ 1 SG means that he is not using manufacturer specific gravities for each flavor. The default is specific gravity = 1 if you don't specify. It just helps in accuracy to know what he used as a baseline.
#10 by DarthVapor, Jan 28. 2016, 19:58
This is correct, thank you Brian.

I had signed all my recipes with this for anyone who is using the actual specific gravity for flavorings and I did this before Lars updated the site and included these in the grams section of the calculator.
The difference in flavorings SGs are so small that it isn't worth the struggle to hunt down and input 100s of flavors.
So for those who do use them, they can know that I use 1 across the board, so if they want to duplicate a recipe, they can.

It really doesn't matter now though because what the calculator above reads, is exactly how I mix. I use 1.26SG for my VG/NIC and 1 for flavors

Seekerom- I just got a bunch of new coconuts I am playing around with, so I will be able to answer you soon! ;)
#12 by WhiteRaven, Jan 28. 2016, 20:04
Thanks Darth :)

after so many experiments with flavours, to your opinion, which brands are the best quality curriently on the market?

or you think that some brands are good with this and some with that?

thanks!

For coconut? I really like FLV sweet coconut and I started off with just coco extra and I still enjoy it under 1%
Cocopilada is a some what new one for me and I REALLY like it! I also just bought shisha coco inw and it's doing me a solid as well! I have both FLV coco and I would recommend them and all the others I have in my stash I like as well....I guess I haven't tried one I don't really like?

FLV swt coco is nice because it doesn't kick your ass like the extra will
#14 by WhiteRaven, Jan 29. 2016, 08:22
Thanks Darth :)
I was asking about flavor companies in general.... As I understand there's no Zen company which is perfect in everything...

This will forever live on in history as the very first juice I have ever made myself. I am waiting for my scale etc to come in the mail so it is probably pretty inaccurate, but it smells great. How the heck will I be able to wait at least a week to steep?
#16 by Richy25, Mar 3. 2016, 20:47
just knocked this baby up 25ml, will report back after a steep and shake.peace
#17 by Richy25, Apr 4. 2016, 09:12
I love it, I'm on a second 50ml batch I change nothing it's lush the way it is!

Made it and the coconut was too strong. Used coconut candy instead of coconut extra. Much much better imho.
