Yes, there's a ton of layers. Yes it's complicated to mix. No you can't substitute anything. If you have the flavors for this monstrosity of a mix you'll be in for an epic treat. If you don't...well as I said subbing is just not going to come out with the same results.
You'll get white bread, you'll get creamy rich peanut butter, and Welch's Natural Grape Jelly if you mix this as it is. If you mix it any other way, I am not responsible for the results.
Tested it at 4 days steep, and it was epic. I didn't want to stop vaping it. I had to cause I'm seriously allergic to a few of the ingredients. But I didn't mix this for myself, it's for a friend. So if you're sensitive to DAAP or sucralose, this isn't the recipe for you.
Thank you for posting this, I'm placing another order tonight to get some of these flavors that I don't have...I can't wait...After watching your show last night I had to ask for this recipe Wow that was fast, my hats off to you...I will make this and I will rate this...Cheers JJ...
I ordered flavors just for this recipe and I'm still missing two but I had to try it and add them in when they get here. I'm not one that can taste different layers but I pick up many different flavors with this one. It's going to be in my adv list! You're awesome Jennifer and you never let me down! Thank you so much!
I'm glad a few people are already enjoying this. I swear this has been the white whale of a recipe I've been trying to mix for at least 6 years, though I've been thinking about it for nearly 10 years now. lol I wish I could vape it, but I'm going to have to see what I can do now that I know there are some flavors that will work if I can manage to mix a version I can actually vape, cause damn I want pb&j vape. I love to eat them, and vaping them will just be a special treat for me. :)
I have to admit I did sub White Fudge with WF Fluffy White Cake at the same percentage, because I didn't have white fudge. I'm not sure if it changed it much, but it tastes just like Naturally More almond butter with flax seeds along with Welch's grape jam to me. Two thumbs up!
Hey jennifer @jenniferjarvis where the heck do i get flv wheat, and ccw vanilla fudge, in the states??? Ill post in the collective page as well:) this is awesome im stoked to mix i looooove complicated, extensive recioes!!
Vanilla Fudge CCW I ordered from Chefsflavours.co.uk It's listed under Chef's Choice flavors. FLV Wheat...I'm not sure if any of the vendors actually carry it. I got mine direct from FLV's website.
Putting together a four site order now. Thanks for the recipe Jennifer! Is there something that makes purilum super sweet different than cap Super sweet
@#12 Diyowen -- I think PUR Sweetener is a PG/VG mix -- it is thicker than CAP Super Sweet. It also seem sweeter than CAP super sweet without the slight bitter aftertaste that CAPs has. So I venture to say PUR doesn't have the citric acid and other preservatives that CAP does. It's also sweeter than FW's and even FW has a artificial taste with a bit of a bitter back note. PUR just seems really sweet.
@#11 G3N0CID3 -- I've not had the Jam monster grape jelly version. I've had the strawberry one, and I can tell you this recipe has more bread notes than Jam monster has overall in their strawberry or blueberry or blackberry versions. I'm not a fan of the taste of Jam Monster, they use many flavorings I don't like. I'm just a stickler for getting something to taste the same way I experience a food item. I just like realism, but it's also subjective as I am basing it on the flavors I get from a food and then translating them into a recipe to be vaped. I used the elements that I most taste in the real food.
Yeah you can use other sweeteners, adjust the percentage of sweetener to your tastes. The sweetener used is to help the overall grape jelly taste and peanut butter.
Gaaahhhhh vaping this at 40w on a fused Clapton prolly in my Hadaly clone an WOW JENN THIS IS SOOO SPOT ON
please please id watch a 2 hour video on your process for this Haha cuz it's so specific and spot on and complicated and beautifully crafted and DELICIOUS
Lol...it actually isn't a lot to tell, just took me about 6 years to locate flavors that did what I wanted in terms of flavor notes. I've mixed 4 or 5 versions every time I got flavors in that I thought might work, but up till now I was struggling with the bread note. I've had the bulk of the peanut butter and jelly layer for a few years now, and then added little touches to this latest batches, and then bread came when I got the new flv flavors in and got the baked bread from RF. I am currently working on a strawberry-blackberry Smuckers Jelly version with honey roasted peanut butter, cause I've been eating those a lot lately, my new fav for lunch. #momlyfe eating the kiddo's bread crust. Lol
Oh, already did a video talking about how I mix, it was on the weight vs volume show we did. I mix by smell, not by theory crafting. youtu.be/04zLxRmqLU8
@EyeMgod -- I had a batch steeping for 3 months, it was definitely still strong in that time. It should hold up for a bit longer than that. Not sure how quickly you go through liquid or how big of a batch you want to make. If you have the flavors on hand, you could always use the turn this into a one shot option under the tools (blue wrench) and mix yourself a one shot so you don't have to spend time mixing all the ingredients each time you want it.
I reach to a bottle in the back of one of my mixing racks that was lazily labelled and some how faded beyond being legible except for the letters "PB". I then test the aroma I lick a drop off the back of my hand and am taken a back and thinking wow did I do this? Surely not. I searched & searched every recipe I had mixed in the last 4 months in ELR then boom I found it! I knew this was to good to be mine lol, but I am grateful I took this epic journey to rediscover this fine recipe after this significant steep, holy "ShaBang!". Complex, yet obvious, a shopping list of flavours but not muddled, authentic, textually perfect and most importantly it's freakin delicious! This is a recipe I need to revisit the SFT's and break this down and see what I can learn some more. I followed Jen at the start of my mixing journey and while I have come a long way in my mixing journey in the last 3 years I have so much more to learn, Jen thanks for reminding me of that lol. #InspiredAgain #JenRocks #MixThis #DeliciousAF
Hey Jennifer. I really want to mix this up but I can't find CCW white fudge anywhere. I know you mentioned that you got yours from chefflavors but they don't seem to have it in stock. Would there be a close sub I could use or do u know anywhere else I could get it from? Thanks
Yes it's chefs choice vanilla fudge and if for some reason they are out of stock you can always order the vanilla fudge from cupcake world (also in the UK) as that is the actual brand that is being rebottled by Chefs.
Thankyou Jennifer. Also if you would could you fill me in on the ingredients in this recipe that make up the PB profile? Obviously the cap and flavorah peanut butter, but is there anything else you are using here to make up the PB? Thanks in advance.
That's pretty much it as Sam said, also the avocado is part of the peanut butter layer. The vanilla and caramel bridge the flavors with the bread layer and help with separating them from each other when vaped.
Hehe...took me years to find the right flavors to hit the level of realism I wanted. It still isn't perfect, cause I can't vape it beyond a few puffs here and there because of the DAAP levels and something in sun seed I am sensitive too. But sun seed just makes the peanut butter more realistic.
Thank you Jennifer. This does truly look EPIC! I'm grateful for the time, talent and expertise you devote to developing recipes and sharing them with us. I've only been DIYing for four months and was looking for a Grape PB&J, but not really interested in the bread components. Would this still work if I were to omit Baked Bread, Starch Base and Wheat? Thank you in advance.
@Jbez, sorry I hadn't seen your comment. Probably a little late now but if anyone else has this question...the answer is Yes. You can remove the bread part and it will still taste good. However, if you just want something simple and still pretty tasty, and especially if you like a bit of some sort of sweetener, the PB&J flavor from OOO isn't bad. But for tasting experience I had with that flavor, reminded me of eating sandwiches at a friends house who's family used like the most generic brand of peanut butter and jelly you could possibly buy. That's the taste experience with the OOO version. It's believably pb&j, just very generic. What I did up there is more of a roasted peanut butter with welches grape jam - though the jelly is basically the same taste just thinner and sweeter. While I can't say my recipe was completely spot on to eating the real thing, it has enough of the essence of it to conjure that memory sense of eating my favorite sandwich combo. Because I developed this recipe in layers, getting each component the way I wanted it, you can essentially pick this recipe apart and use the components elsewhere. So the peanut butter layer can be extracted, the bread layer, the jam layer. They all work on their own and all work together. You may have to adjust the percentages depending on how you are using the layers, alone or in recipes. But it gives you a flavor list and a general idea of a starting point.
@Jennifer Jarvis - thank you for your wonderfully informative reply. It’s never too late to acquire knowledge. I also appreciate the tip on OOO”s offering, which is certainly worth a try (I love your colorful ‘generic’ flavor reference!). Always looking forward to gems pouring from your creative mind.
@geostudy -- I would bump the percentage up to about 1.5% or 2% on the VG. It's a bit weaker than the super concentrate ones. You'll know if you add too much it will get yeasty heavy and taste a little like burnt bread. It should be just enough to give a bit of a white bread note with a crusty aftertaste.
