One of my favourite DIY's! the cakey mouthfeel ls really nice and tasty.. makes a really nice change from my custards. I had to use Capella's lemon sicily instead and am really happy with it.
Cheers fresh!
Darn sure Goin to give this a try and I am amazed no substitutes I got these flavors I have tried two of your recipes and very happy thanks for posting and your chanel been a big help thank
Well I just tested a few drops in my rda and it was lovely. I'm really impress with the freshness from the melon, it's a lovely light zesty lemon, hope my rose 3 tanks stands upto this ha
I put it in my spheroid v4 and it's very nice, I think the lemon is spot on at 1%, first time using FA lemon Sicily and it's nice, it's a strong concentrate and I feel I will use it again soon ha
Awesome recipie! Made a couple of tweaks, nothing major tho. I subbed the cap vc for fa vc, since it has a slight lemon note to it I thought it might work well here. I also upped the fa Italian lemon Sicily by 1%. I find Fa Italian lemon Sicily Can sometimes loose flavour after a long steep and as I've made 200mls I thought it would be a good idea to up the percentage a bit.
Thank you for the recipie!
So. Damn. Good. Rich, creamy, sweet but not too sweet, fantastic texture. Tastes like a custard cake my mom used to make. No lemon detected two weeks into steeping, so if you want more of that I'd suggest increasing the percentage a bit. CAP Cake Batter is a great addition here. This is going to be a wonderful base for adding various fruits. Tempted to try this with a bit of chocolate, too...
@Trainspotter82 anything that contains custard or cream I generally like to steep for a week. You'll definitely notice the flavour change over time. It gets smoother
When i see a lot of warning symbol in the flavor components simply reject that recipe. We need to do an effort to make recipes with flavors without acetoin, acetyl propinyol and diacetyl and where is possible avoid flavors aggressive with ours tanks.
To be fair, when I made the recipe there was only one flavor with a warning, bavarian cream.
I think the hype over the pre-dicetyl agents isn't worth noticing. That's me though, we all make the choices for ourselves when we mix. That's the beauty of DIY.
@ Mrs Brown ....but but but thats all the tasty stuff , Im quite sure any damage it could do would be negligible.I used the v1 Van custard so I musta had a full house with the triangles ..lol. nom nom nom.
I didn't think much of it at first. After about two weeks (today) it's amazing. Tastes like a creamy lemon pound cake. Now I wish I made more than 15ml lol
Excellent Recipe. I had to up the lemon to 3.5%. Maybe its just me but I wanted the lemon to be a primary note. The cake is amazing just the way you wrote it up. Thanks Much!!!
I had to make a few substitutions (cup cake and custard v1 vs v2), but I think the end result is about what you intended it to be.
Authentic flavor profile, subtle but identifiable lemon, nice.
I just had it sit for 4 or 5 hours, no real harshness or throat hit as I expected from your explanation. Maybe that has to do with the subs I made?
Forget diacetyl, acetoin, AP harm. That Cake (Yellow) (FW) is a huge no. It contains natural sugar and corn syrup. Both are very dangerous to take directly into blood stream by inhaling which will cause diabetes in time. You do not want to take sugar into your blood stream directly while even eating sugar is a problem for human health. As a bonus sugar and corn syrup burns and becomes carcinogenic.
Instead of van.cupcake im gonna use flavorha pound cake and see what happens....I need to find some good pound cake recipes especially some butterscotch and carmel recipes rather it be cereal custard rice crispness whatever
Cheers fresh!
