MIX AT: 70VG///30PG
STEEP TIME: LONG - 1 WEEK MINIMUM (But good right as mixed)
This recipe was first introduced in my DIY Ejuice Magazine InTheMix in the November #3 issue. It is a remix of Charlie Nobles Pistachio ry4, where I wanted more notes of vanilla and brown sugar. This has been in my daily rotation since its inception and is a wonderfully rich, sweet, nutty, and creamy vape.
Have tried most of your recipes and they are all in my rotation, this sounds right up my taste profile, will need to order a few of the flavors ..............looking forward to trying this out. Will update once shipment comes in. Thanks
It's very good. You can't tell it's a tobacco blend--the RY4 Double is like a caramel with texture, although the RY4 is very distinguishable smell and immediately reminds me of ejuice from 2012.
Question, why the change from the magazine posting? Which is the reference recipe? In the magazine the recipe differs from this ELR one by omitting TFA Brown Sugar, and the Caramel level being 1% more and optional sucralose. I going to make second batch identical to this and see which is better. For those who don't know of the magazine, google it, and subscribe.
Yeah, I just made this.I steeped with a single hot water bath and it was good to go. This is the type of flavor I like the most and this is a good one for sure.
Great flavor, as he mentions it's great right out of the gates but definitely develops more with age. Tastes mostly like a good caramel until it ages, then the pistachio starts to peek his head out and the earthiness of the tobaccos levels it out. Even if tobacco isn't up your alley I think this is a really good vape.
Just made this and I have to say I was worried that the hubs wouldnt like this one but he does I also love it I knew that I would cause I love Pistachios and he doesnt so that is a major plus thanks for the share
Maybe I spoke too soon, after 6 hours of vaping this my throat is itchy as anything. Not really raw, just a super unpleasant tickle on the exhale. Had anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you fix it?
You didn't speak to soon. I've been trying to use RY4 Double for over a year in various recipes 2% to 10%. Always nice the first day but the longer it steeps harsher it gets till it cuts like a knife. Something's fishy with this flavor.
Thought that might be it. I have another RY4D bottled and it's giving me the same scratchy thing. Has anyone found a decent substitute? Maybe FA Desert Ship at a lower percentage?
My first comment ever. I've made 240 mls of this recipe and I absolutely love it. I do find though that I have to change my cotton in my tank more often with this liquid than any other. If you get that itchy scratchy throat or the like with any recipe. Change your cotton or rebuild your coil. Please?
Made this, steeped, vaped. Good, but not quite there. Too sweet IMO. After vaping a couple ML in my Kayfun, it takes on a heavy caramel flavor that obscures everything else. Which of course happens when you let your wick go for some time, but it comes up way sooner than I'd like with this recipe. Looking forward to picking up a couple flavors and trying the new version: tjek.nu/r/4ekH
I know that you've since revisited this recipe, but, I mixed this one on 3/6/16 and poured it into a fresh tank for the first time this morning and wanted to stop in and thank you. I've been enjoying the hell out of it all day, and I just mixed myself up an end-of-the-day Manhattan, and I can't believe how well it pairs!
Looking forward to trying the update to this recipe, after another flavor order of course, but I wanted to tell you how much I love this one. Thanks for all you do for the DIY community!
I find the pistachio too mild in the updated recipe, do you think I could use this as a base and just sub Butterscotch Ripple for the Brown Sugar and Caramel (Original)?
Anyone knows, can i replace Caramel (Original) with TPA Caramel ? Maybe by add little bit another ingridients? or it is a one of key ingridients?
Thanks!
@HoneyBadger, TPA caramel? That's all? No other information? As far as I know TPA have 2 caramels, that is original and candy and they're nothing alike. Caramel original is that kind of real salty caramel, very dense very earthy, robust and dark(I don't mean color, but it is yellow), while candy caramel is much sweeter much less dense of a flavor it reminds me european equivalent of eggnog with strong alcohol (by smell) it's way more mellow than caramel original. They are slightly similar (both are caramels duuuh) but they're two different ends.
@purgeist i mean this e-liquid-recipes.com/flavor/120 . Looks like you are right, i cannot replace original caramel with this in pistachio ry4 recipe. Too bad i cannot find it anywhere in my town. Thanks for answers tho!
@HoneyBadger, so that's the third caramel from TPA, never heard of it until now TBH. Try finding it online, it's a very good addition to a lot of liquids ;).
@guntherslunt, dude you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do. I would actually encourage you to do that, because I'd like to know that too. I did the same but in an opposite direction. I used new recipe with caramel and brown sugar since I can't find butterscotch ripple anywhere.
Have yet to try version 2 with butterscotch ripple but I did find that adding 1 drop / 15ml of Flavorah Honey Bee really sweetens this and brings the pistachio to the front.
added 2% FW Brown sugar to the original Pistachio RY4 concentrate (from VF2016) and it seems to smooth it out so the nutty flavour doesnt seem to smash you so much but it's still very prominent, thankyou.
Fantastic! I love it! I added 0.5 TPA Sweetener and 0.5 FA Joy !
I've used TPA DX version.
I did test the new version of this. I like this version better.
I didn't have TPA Carmel (original) so I subbed it with TPA Toasted Marshmellow which also has a slight carmel note to it, not sure howfar off it is compared to the original recipe but I really like it. Thanks for the recipe.
Wayne, I had to mix this up, and let it steep (as per your recommendation) ..day 9 and I 'went in on it'... nice job brother. Thank you for the share. Off to mix up 100 ml or so.. take care buddy, keep doing what you're doing, we appreciate it. :) :)
MMMMMM! I really like this recipe. It is very sweet, but the caramel flavor is rounded out nicely by the hint of pistachio. It does require longer than a week to steep, but it is totally worth the wait, and is good, even before it has finished. Thanks for the recipe. In future iterations I may see if I can bring the pistachio out more. :D
WOW... i had gotten away from tobacco tasting liquids but this one is phenomenal! Thank you for the time you put into all these amazing recipes. When i can get everything balanced I'll become a member @ diyordie for all the info and recipes hidden behind those doors. Cheers
AFAIK Wayne has taken his publicly shared recipes off of ELR. It does look like you can access it on his website though.. https://diyordievaping.com/2016/03/04/the-new-pistachio-ry4u-recipe/
I chose this recipe for my first DIY ejuice & it was a success.
After 3 weeks, it tasted very nice & smooth.
It's the best pistachio ejuice I ever tasted!!
Not a fan of this at all. I've learned that it takes true ty4 lovers to be able to pull off unique, balanced ry4 recipes. Ry4 recipes are not a flavor genre a mixer can pull off when they're mixing a candy vape one day and a funfetti cake or cheesecake the next. At least that's the conclusion I've come to after trying peoples ry4 recipes over the past 2 years. No dis...just sayin.
Found an updated edit online where Sugar Cookie & Butterscotch were added. Way too sweet for me. So, I'm rating that one 2/5 stars. Will try this one as written.Think the high % Pistachio will really make this excellent as its so solid as a base.
one of my ADV. pairs very well with lucky shot from one stop diy shop. i keep a 15% lucky shot base on hand (it mixes great with a lot of stuff) and mix it with this @ 75% pistachio ry4 25% lucky shot base. also i like this original pistachio ry4 version much better than the newer version with sugar cookie.
I made this but with FA pistachio instead of tpa at a lower 3%. After 48 hours I tested it with a new cotton on the world recurve and all I could taste was this yacky type of pistachio oil that almost made me kinda sick. Was the 3% from far too much? I got only FA pistachio and would like to use it. Please help.
I would suggest not wasting your time and other flavours on subbing out the Fa pistachio if it didn't work the first time , remember though that ry4 recipes need a minimum of a week and usually more to blend together. If you want to try the recipe order TPA's pistachio I would suggest, I say this with experience on trying to sub out flavours with almost always poor results and waste of time.
I mixed a bunch of recipes with RY4 Double and this one after a good time steeping is awsome, i like the pistachio note, wonderful ry4 vape, thanks for sharing.
I actually ordered this and honestly at 2 weeks steep was not sweet enough and a bit of chemical taste. I know it will get better with age though so awaiting one more week! So far, Rose Milk and Cuprian were WAY too sweet for me, however, at 2% less were yumz. This one was very forward and not very sweet after 2 weeks. Awesome flavor so far, just waiting for everything to settle more and maybe the caramel to come out more. 3 Weeks hopefully is a charm!
@Mamoto, thank you for comment....I did wait another week and WOW, sweetness is there, all blended up nicely. So far, my favorite RY4 recipe to date :)
I found the idea of the perfect Cookie to be inside the recipe as well as cotton candy which makes the tobacco recipes to shine. Give it a go and you will remember me ;)
For anybody out there who wants to try my Version where I sub ry4 for caramel candy tpa at 2% and french van cap at 1% to get rid of tobacco notes, and make it more sweet and candylike. And it is pretty good.
Been on this for years, one of the first recipes I made when i started DIY and still in daily rotation. Every morning with coffee and goes very well with beers in the evening.
Vaping this nectar of gods straight 4 years. This is my favourite juice of all time, and new pistachio ry4u as additional sometimes. Thank you dude for your work
Phwoar. This is the absolute dog's bollocks!
Not a huge fan of brown sugar though so I dropped it from 2% to 1% and added 1% Butterscotch Ripple in its place. Straight of the bat, this is proper lush. But I'm even more excited to try it after a week.
