Hi KC. I feel your loss of Dark Chocolate (MF). Have you seen this video on Vape Train chocolates? It might help you pick one (or 2) out for your mix. youtu.be/sIgwXt3DL5M
KC, for the DC VTA I would start at same percentage or maybe 0.8, only because I get an “alcohol” like off note in that one, so the flavor will suffer…..
0.8% KC or start lower, you can always add a drop or 2 after 7day steep. Not sure if the VT is alcohol based, I just used that term for lack of a better description, but that’s the note I get and it stays, YMMV 👌
Hey KC, not sure where you live but I'd love to have a mixing friend nearby. Think of all the flavors we could trade off and share! I wish you luck with your mix. I never tried the VT Dark Chocolate so no reference there but I had very good luck with their Chocolate Mousse. It falls somewhere in the middle of dark and milk choco and won't gunk coils. Adding the right cocoa might richen it. The JF line of Sweet and regular cocoa is reliable and a non coil gunker, too. Cheers!
Muth, I live in Southern Oregon and I don't know of anyone within miles around that even dabbles in vaping. I do have some VTA Chocolate Mousse and JF Cocoa, but my problem is that I wouldn't even know what percentages to being with, I am way too new to the DIY world, I just have an OCD collection of flavors without any knowledge about them except what I read about on ELR, lol.
I can tell you the pct I used for a couple of recipes that you can start with. Chocolate Mousse (VTA) 2% and Cocoa (JF) 0.50%. That was the regular Cocoa not the Sweet Cocoa. You can always check the flavor note pages just to get an idea of starting or average pcts. My good friend lived in Ashland Oregon for 11 yrs. back in the day. She absolutely fell in love with it. Visiting in the past few years, she said it's not what it used to be, sadly. Like everything else, the money moves in and buys up all the land with their stupid McMansions.
Muth, the only 'Sweet Cocoa' I know is the SSA one. For replacing the MF Dark Choco in this recipe, would you suggest 0.4% VTA Dark Choco, 0.2% VTA Choco Mousse and 0.2% JF Cocoa? That way, the total percentage of Choco comes out to be 0.8% per Rocky's suggestion. I really do rely on other's opinions like yours and Rocky's because otherwise it is like planting me in front of a EZ Baker and asking me to make edible mud pies.
I agree with your friend re: Ashland. I used to ski/snowboard all the time there when I was younger, but lately, within the past 10 years or so, it has become so freaking liberal, it is such a pussified city of cowards now and resembles the new San Francisco where you have needles on the streets & parks and the homeless walking around naked and defecating anywhere.
Oiy! Naked people defecating in the streets, oh my! I've heard of being liberal but that takes it to a new level🤣.
I can't advise on VTA Dark Choco, never used it. VTA is not ultra concentrated like MF. I doubt if you'd notice it at 0.2%. When subbing flavors you'll need to go with how the brand performs. That said, starting low is a good thing because you can always add to it. Experiment with it and see. We all have different tastes.
