For AAFL Layered recipes episode. I also just got the FLV Pound Cake and Toasted Coconut Cheesecake and wanted to try them with some other flavors I already know work well together.
Tom Cruise Cake is a Bundt Cake frosted with White Chocolate covered in Coconut. It earned its nickname because he gifts this cake to celebrity friends, and family.
I started with the pound cake and simply cake to make a cake layer. I really wanted to see how well they work together. Followed by the FLV and VSO pairing we already know works well for the White Chocolate layer. Next, I really been itching to try the Toasted Coconut Cheesecake as I've heard it's mostly an excellent Coconut, any Graham or Cheesecake elements should help add to the Cake layer. Lastly, the Coconut Custard for just a bit extra addition to the Coconut, but my theory is the Custard should help the Cake as well as the White Chocolate from going too dry. Hopefully it doesn't just blend everything all together.
After an overnight, this seriously slaps!! I am not the biggest fan of some coconut flavors. I can do Coconut Custard, and FLV Sweet Coconut.. Toasted Coconut Cheesecake did not disappoint. So far there really is a nice top note of Coconut immediately followed with the White chocolate, then a nice mellow cake finish. Then a lingering sweetness from the Coconut and white chocolate on the Palate. Nothing is over powering. No sun tan lotion, and im looking forward to see how more time treats this one. Simply cake will continue to grow up to 10 to 14 days, but by a full week I should be able to tell if I'm losing any of the Coconut. In Which case I may add some FLV Sweet Coconut or Coconut FA, but so far this is excellent as is.
