WIP
We all know what it's like to revisit our childhood through a cake or candy....and be disappointed! It just doesn't taste like we remembered it. Well, maybe we can fix that. This is a recreation of the 1914 penny candy (no, I'm not THAT old!) as my childhood memories fondly remember.
Whether my tasters were sharper or the ingredients were better back then, the Mary Jane of today leaves me flat. The original was a taffy-like candy with only two ingredients, molasses and peanut butter but there was a blob of real peanut butter in the center and that's what made the taste sensation pop. Instead of just throwing PB and Molasses together, I opted to add deep, mysterious Milk and Honey which compliments the nuttiness without adding crunch.
Oh Em Gee! It’s going to be a hot day tomorrow, I’m staying in and doing some mixing! This is on my list and Sessions custard he recently published is on my list. I’m also mixing my July recipe. Muth, this looks great!
Mixed! Smells delicious! I’ve never mixed the pb taffy over 1.5% I think it’ll go delightful with TPA pb dx. I’ll let it sit a few days. Plus I need to rewick lol
