⛔ This recipe is NOT intended to be vaped "as is". It's one building block to be used in building a complete cake
⭐ THE SETUP - why this recipe exists
This recipe was developed in response to the January 2026 Mix Along on the ELR Forum. The "assignment" was to build a cake base that could be used to build many different cakes.
⭐ FIRST STEP - determining what's needed
The first step I took was breaking down what makes a cake taste like a cake. Then determining which flavors could create that. I have a limited supply of bakery flavors so I used what I have. Here's what I decidied to use and how they create cake . . .
⭐ DISCOVERY - finding hidden treasures
After just a bit of testing I realized that by shifting the ratio of these components I could move through the "Cake Spectrum" . . .
= Sponge Cake - light and airy
= Yellow Cake - middle of the road
= Pound Cake - dense and moist
The main recipe (listed above) is for the middle (Yellow Cake). The other recipes are listed below.
⭐ NEXT STEP - adding flavor inside the cake
❗❗ this part of the recipe is still being developed - use at your own risk
The base cake is mostly unflavored (just a hint of vanilla). It's meant to provide the structure of the cake. Next, I want to create "blocks" of flavor to stack on top of the cake base. The flavor should be IN the cake - not slathered on top of it like frosting. The flavor block should not change the structure of the base - just flavor it.
A proper Flavor Block . . .
= does not add weight
= does not redefine structure
= is flavor (not sweetness) forward
= tastes "baked" (not candy)
Here's a look at what I'm currently working with. These blocks are intended for the "middle" of the cake world - Yellow Cake. Just like the base recipe, I'm assuming that I'll end up with three versions of each flavor - one for each style of cake (sponge/yellow/pound). These blocks are meant to be "stacked" on top of the base recipe.
⭐ AFTER THAT - flavor on top of the cake
A cake isn't complete without some sort of frosting, glaze, or fruit topping. This might be a single "frosting" flavor or perhaps a combination of flavors. We'll find out soon enough.
⭐ FUTURE PLANS - be patient (hahaha)
I'm thinking that the base recipe could be shifted toward other forms of bakery. But that would (most likely) require adding other flavors. For instance FA Cookie to shift toward "cookie" or VT Croissant to shift toward "strudel".
