The "No-Cake" Cake Base:
Forget the fluffy, airy, or heavy vanilla notes of traditional cake flavors, I decided to go with no "cake" flavors in my mix...
This recipe takes a "Southern Picnic" approach to building a cake profile, using dense bakery staples to mimic a rich pound cake with graininess, buttery richness, and crisp browned edges.
OOO Corn Bread: The anchor of the recipe. It provides the slightly grainy texture, and a creamy, dense, and comforting backbone.
CAP Shortbread & SSA Shortbread Cookie: These are layered to create a thick, buttery texture that mimics the crust and crumb structure of a pound cake, with the SSA Shortbread Cookie providing the necessary crunch on the edges and butter richness, while CAP brings a solid, consistent base.
FA Custard Premium: Added in a small amount, this acts as a bridge to meld the bakery notes together, adding a velvety, smooth texture and a subtle, rich mouthfeel without turning the recipe into a custard-dominant vape.
CAP Super Sweet: Essential to bring out the sweetness of the cornbread and shortbreads, turning a "dry" bakery mix into a moist, dessert-style vape.
Traditional "Cake" flavors often bring a light, almost airy, or artificial vanilla sponge taste. By using Corn Bread and Shortbread, I am building the flavor from a more authentic, dense, and oily, "buttery" perspective. This base is designed to be highly versatile. It works perfectly as a stand-alone, or as a foundation for berry jams, lemon icing, or nutty toppings.
