Notes
My "cake base" for the ELR january mixalong --
*This is a just cake "base" & ideally is meant to be used as such but it is still nice as it is* (see bottom paragraph for some examples) -

- Just a plain cake with some nice butter, soft bakery notes.

I want to start by saying - only having a month to develop this i still may make further adjustments? Time constraint prevrnts me from being 100% happy to call this "complete". The way i develop my recipes is probably the most time consuming method, i start with 1 flavour, get the % where i like it, see what i want to add then make some more single flavours that i think might go well, test them individually with the starting flavour by dripping both seperately into an RDA just to get an idea, then i make up a mix/mixes with the one/ones i like, pick my second flavour then balance %'s again, then repeat the process to pick my 3rd ingredient & so on, it gets really annoying but well worth it once the recipe is "complete" i get the best results this way personally. I do sometimes just stick ingredients together & hope, or if i already know things work etc ill start with those, but i mostly build my recipes out from scratch.

So,
* I chose to start with WF fluffy white cake because it is pretty much what the name suggests, well pretty close to anyway.
* The 2nd flavour i chose/added was WF crumble topping because the soft, buttery bakery notes compliment cakes so well.
* The 3rd flavour i added was SSA spongecake, now this one to me is a funny one, sometimes its lovely but i can vape it again another day & not taste anything? This is most likely a ME issue though, nevertheless, i chose this because it has a really nice cakey vibe to it, it tastes more like a hard/dense type of spongecake to me (when i can taste it) & it just helps push the "cake" flavour a little, while adding a nice "mouth-feel" to the mix.
* CAP cookie crumble is mostly for the butter but it has the added bonus of having a really nice, very soft cookie/cookie doughey/bakery vibe to it, i absolutely love this flavour & it is probably my number 1 favourite bakery flavour, definitely a "must-have" imo, its such a good flavour, but even as low as 0.5% it is very prominent in a mix & is one of those "easy to identify" flavours, i can tell straight away if a mix has this in it, & the 0 5% in this rrcipe adds just the right ammount of buttery bakery goodness.

Steep - because of some of the ingredients used this is really not a shake n vape recipe, it needs at least 5/6 days for everything to start to shine & come together properly. I would say 10-14 days would be the ideal steep time but i havent really tested it much past that so i cant comment on longer steep times.

Appologies for the unnecessary wall of text, i get carried away sometimes & im just crap with wording/explaining things, especially notes 😂, i can never find the right word/sentence to say what i mean, lol.

This contest was created & set up by ELRs very own legends that are fiddy/fidalgo vapes & Rocky toony, so if you play along(anyone can) - forum.e-liquid-recipes.com/t/january-2026-mix-along-the-cake-assignment/286518, show some appreciation, love & support to the fellas, even if its just a thanks for everything they do, because without those guys, this site would not be what it is today.

** A few examples of how to use/adapt a "base" recipe**
Although its a nice vape as it is listed, its also nice to add in a little something else. Add some vanilla? a fruit of choice? custard? tobacco? - For example, what does go really well added to this base recipe is -
* 0.5% INW biscuit, 0.75% TFA meringue, 5% CAP ripe strawberries, 1% SSA whipped cream.
* Or just something simple like 3% FW blueberry? Or 4%CAP blueberry jam? Or 2% OoO strawberry jam? Or 1.75% SSA raspberry syrup? etc etc.
* Some vanilla like - 1.5% FLV vanilla pudding? Or 1% SSA ice cream vanilla? Or 1% SSA whipped cream? Or 1% WF french vanilla (thick)? etc etc.
I have not fully tested this recipe with all of those examples (or even the base alone really) but i have briefly tried some + a few i havent listed/cant remember,lol..

Enjoyed reading your notes and although your not 100% happy with recipe it looks really good.

@Dj35, Thanks brother👍, i do get a little carried away typing sometimes & by the time i look up to read it back, theres a huge wall of text, lol. But yeah, time constraints really are my worst nightmare with making eliquids, the way i create & test recipes is very time consuming & not being able to 'fully' test this (properly anyway) i was questioning wether or not i should submit it, but it is pretty nice for what it is tbh, i mean it is what it is really, just a plain cake🤷‍♂️,lol.

Also, its actually really nice when you start adding whipped creams/vanilla /meringue & a bit of INW biscuit, or even just a nice jammy fruit.

I'm going to try it out and add some "buttercream" and maybe a little icing. Thank you.
