The profile I was going for is a wild mountain huckleberry with a cobalt blue snap. ​I wanted to give it an extraterrestrial flavor. It has the familiar tartness of a mountain huckleberry fused with a subtle hydro-fresh finish that lingers in your mouth. It's definitely a well-rounded flavor and is mainly intended to be used as a standalone juice, but you can add some cream to make an excellent blueberries and cream type juice.

I know the theme this month is blueberry, but I figured blueberry, bilberry, and huckleberry are all closely related and can be interchangeable in recipes. I just wanted to offer something different as well as try out my new huckleberry flavors.

I really don't try to make my recipes overly complicated, but I'm always eager to use many corresponding flavors to make it have a full, complex flavor. I have fun coming up with recipes and I spend a lot of time tinkering with flavor ratios. It's one of my hobbies now that I'm semi-retired at 43. I have to find something to stimulate my creativity for the rest of my years.

I'm not sure how recipes with a bunch of flavors added respond to smaller coils or higher ohm tanks but for what I use my complex recipes usually turn out excellent.

I'm not HUGE on steeping, but I always do steep. I just don't steep as long as most and use mixing methods to speed up the process. I actually don't seem to like juices that are months old so I tend to make smaller batches of everything.

Here's a summary of the flavors and why I used them.

Huckleberry (FLV) Is the core flavor. It's earthy, potent, sharp, and very authentic. This flavor is the star of the show. It's highly concentrated so I only use a little bit but it's the main force.

Huckleberry (TPA) is a very strong, tart, and sharp berry flavor that closely resembles a wild blueberry, but with a more intense, slightly tannic edge. It's a sweet, jammy, yet complex profile with notes of red berry, cherry, and slight florals.

Huckleberry (FW) is the "body," it's sweet, jammy, and fills the middle. It softens the edges of the FLV Huckleberry.

Blueberry Extra (Silverline) (Cap) offers a sweet, slightly tart, and highly realistic, plump, juicy, freshly picked blueberry flavor.

Blueberry Wild (TPA) adds a sweet and earthy taste, mimicking fresh, ripe wild blueberries rather than candy. It has a light, fluffy, and powdery mouthfeel.

Blueberry (BCF) Is actually pretty versatile, offering a sweet-tart, full-bodied taste. It's a well-rounded blueberry which brings this recipe together.

Bilberry (FA) really captures the essence of European wild blueberries in my opinion. It offers a more intense, slightly tart, and "wilder" taste than traditional American blueberries. It has deep, dark berry notes and earthy undertones.

Maqui Wild Berry Jam (Cap) is one of my favorite flavors. It has a unique, complex, and "jammy" dark berry profile, and reminds me of a blend of blackberry, cranberry, and huckleberry. It presents a tart yet sweet, slightly earthy flavor, providing a thick, smooth, and authentic berry jam taste with a notable, slightly dark wine-like finish.

Pomegranate Deluxe (TPA). I use this flavor as a sweet-tart, fruity, and slightly astringent 'red berry' base or accent in fruit, candy, and beverage mixes.

Cranberry (TPA) & Cranberry (Cap). Adding Cranberry provides the bite you're looking for. Huckleberries in the wild are notoriously tart and slightly "tannic" (dry/skin-heavy), and cranberry mimics that perfectly.
It's my secret to getting a "realistic" berry bite without it tasting like medicine. It provides astringency and acidity that makes huckleberry taste like it was just picked. I like to use both of these cranberries together because one tastes like a fresh cranberry and one is more like a tart cranberry juice.

Alaskan Berries (WF) adds a bright, frosty "blue" note that rounds out the darker Bilberry. I've never used this flavor before in a recipe, but it tastes great on its own.

Key Lime (TPA). A tiny bit of citrus acts like a brightener, making the dark huckleberry notes feel more elevated.

Sour (TPA) is made with malic acid. I use it the same way I use citrus and citric acid. Malic acid provides a sharp, lingering, fruit-forward taste (found in apples and grapes), while citric acid offers a sharper, immediate, and cleaner sourness (found in citrus). I like to use both.

Cotton Candy (10% EM/Ethyl Maltol) (TPA) has a creamy, light caramel-like, sugary cotton candy flavor profile. I primarily use it smooth out sharp, harsh, or bitter notes, particularly in fruit. It also adds a nice, thick sweetness.

Super Sweet (Cap). High-intensity berries need sweetness to pop and this adds sweetness and contains citric acid and sodium as added flavor enhancers.

Sweetener (Stevia) (TPA) is actually my favorite sweetener. It offers an intense, plant-based, natural sweetness that enhances fruit and dessert flavors. It provides a clean sweetness and it can have a very subtle bitter or herbal aftertaste.

The combined huckleberry-blueberry-bilberry total is 8.5% which gives forth a BOLD huckleberry flavor.

The supporting fruit flavors come to 3.1% so this juice retains its huckleberry integrity while being supported by esters found in real huckleberries.

The combined sweeteners and sours come to 1.8%.

That brings the flavor total to 13.4%, which is not as high as it seems and will avoid any florals or medicinals despite the high percentage.
