I really want to add a touch of black licorice or anise to this but all I have is Licorice (Flavorah), which tastes nothing like licorice unfortunately.
Sassafras was traditionally the main flavor for root beer but was stopped being used because it has an ingredient that is not approved by the FDA.
Sassafras' flavor profile is sweet, woody, and slightly spicy, with distinct notes of root beer, licorice, and anise.
I've never used Vanilla Extract (Flavorah) before; it's a rarely used ingredient. But I wanted to add a vanila boost without using cream.
I'm changing my recipe strategies by using less ingredients, less sweetener, and less overall flavor percentages, while focusing on single flavors rather than a complex combinations of ingredients.
