Comforting crumbly buttery vanilla Scottish shortbread, great as a stand alone or as a base for fruits, creams and all sorts of other flavours.
I enjoy this fresh but if you find INW Biscuit too raw the mix really starts to settle after three days getting richer as it ages.
CAP Sugar Cookie and INW Biscuit - they are great cookie bases that pack a punch. Together they work well at mimicking a proper butter shortbread.
AP brings forward the grain of the mix, adding just the right amount of bite and the CAP V.Custard (v.1) keeps the mix from being too dry on the pallet giving that overall buttery feel.
INW Vanilla Shisha added for its inherent bakery notes and general vanilla decadence.

I subbed the Shisha Vanilla with 1.5% Cap Yellow Cake and .5% Butter Cream and it seems to work okay so far after just a quick shake and 30 min hot water bath.
Have only sub the Vanillla, to Vanilla FA 1,5%, because i like Vanilla very much in vape.
12 Days steep and it was good enough to vape! Have still 10ml of 30ml batch. Very Yummi! TADV(Temporäry-ADV) Last weekend i made a 2nd 50ml batch again with Vanilla FA 1,5%!
Let it steep a little longer this time!
But i will also test it with Vanilla Shisha (INAWERA)
Thanks for that Composition @VHM
Hi @phill83 think vanilla swirl could work but might not have quite the vanilla punch of the original...It should go well though, possibly make the whole mix lighter and more like a Viennese biscuit instead of a stodgy shortbread (y). I'm tempted to try it myself too, upping the VS to 2% to try and get something "fluffier"!
Followed recipes. Wanted to mix 100mls of it only had 3.2mls sugar cookie. So I added .5% FA cookie and the rest as per. 8%pdo added. Max VG. Will let you know
A-mazing base. Add your preferred ratio of sb's into this and u have a tripe thy blow the crap out of the sb shortbread cookie recipe that's so overrated here. This is what that recipe should've been. Thanks a lot!!🍺
This juice smells fantastic on day 3. Good strong golden color too. I haven't vaped this yet, but it definitely wasn't ready on day 2 - taste testing the raw liquid was bitter and off. That seems to have completely gone away now, and it's nice, sweet and seems on point with its description. The smell is definitely alluring.
Amazing recipe, My breakfast juice
I added about 4.5% strawberry ripe TFA
made a 20ml patch to test and its started weak but on day 4 steep all flavors blinded in like dam, day 8 now and looking nice smelling good am about to make another
Thanx for sharing VHM, description is off the hook left nothing a chance ;D
Made this 12/10/16. Tried it after two weeks. Then after a month BAM.............it's a great recipe. Was disappointed with the first try, but after week 4 it blended into a very good buttery shortbread. It's a shortbread more than a cookie, it has substance, more so than custard vapes. Very good with coffee in the morning.
Thanks Polar I ordered the ingredients and made my first batch and I must say this is already one of my favorites even just off shakenvape it was delicious and I'm sure it will get better thanks VHM.
I used the one shot. It's good and definitely gets better with age. Having just polished off a big tin of M&S shortbread, I did expect a little more when I first mixed this. I thought it tasted too much like another vanilla custard iteration, like a custard cream biscuit. At times it's a bit cloying and others it's very buttery and light. I will mix up my own at some point with less-suspect ingredients and up the biscuit (it's lacking that crisp/savoury edge IMO). From the rave reviews I thought this was the holy grail of biscuit vapes lol. It's very nice, smooth, great balance and a great base recipe to tweak, just not quite what I expected. Nice work Ella and the VHM gang.
Thanks for sharing.. I'm out of shisha but I do have Inawera Wanilla which IMO is really good and very close to the shisha. I'm going to try it with wanilla and see.. for those of you who have never tried their wanilla "vanilla" I suggest to give it a whirl its smooth and light just as the shisha...
I've got to say that 6 weeks steep and this absolutely shines. Fantastic vape and one of the most satisfying vapes that doesn't become sickly or 'tired'. Thanks for sharing this - it is much appreciated.
Hasn't anyone thought it's not quite as buttery as it could be? I've just polished off a bottle of trips butter shortbread and the flavours are so different. Wondered if anyone has added some golden butter or something to it?
Tried this with 2% INW Wanilla (vanilla) and its grrrreat !! If you're really looking to "butter" this up add a little butterscotch or your favorite toffee and WoW 😳!! This is just a tried and true fave and I thank @VHM for sharing !!!
Wow sooo good even fresh for me! Very excited to see it in a few days and a few weeks. Thank you! Could add all kinds of things to change it to a fruit flavored or creamy cookie. I might try FW Hazelnut at 1-2%.
Finally got more Vanilla Shisha and I got to admit this recipe reallly shines with the shisha vanilla.. currently my new ADV. who would've thunk it LoL !!!
This is a lovely vape. Either on its own or used as a base. I mix it with 3% strawberry ripe or 3% caramel original. It needs a couple of weeks to steep though. Thanks for the recipe :)
After mixing ID10T's Simply Sugar Cookie recipe I have been cautious of Caps Sugar Cookie. I got a really harsh taste from it in that recipe. He used Sugar Cookie at 8%. Do you think that is too high, and is what led to it being harsh? Or is this just one of those types of flavors?
@cincinnatiking I do like CAP Sugar Cookie but it does have a harsh/chemical note if you go too high or if the mix isn't steeped. With shortbread I find everything has settled after three days (for my taste) but others prefer to steep it longer (2-4 weeks). I'd give this mix a go if you can and preserver with CAP SC as it is a really great concentrate to use in lots of mixes.
Gone through 130ml of this, dont have Acetyl Pyrazine so mixed without. Amazing liquid, one of my all time favourites, diy or otherwise. Highly recommended.
Has anyone found this a bit "weak" i love this recipe but always wish it was a bit stronger, honestly, i have made 700mls of this recipe but want to try to make it a stronger vape so if anyine has any suggestions, i would be thrilled 😊
I made this without the vanilla shisha, used vanilla swirl instead. The first batch was awesome! Second batch I added strawberry ripe and wow! This is a great base! Thank you
Swapped Vanilla Shisha with TPA Vanilla Swirl. Steeped three weeks. Very good on its own. Probably more interesting with a twist. Trying a touch of peanut butter and will report back.
Anyone steeped this for any substantial time.. I'm adding it to my 6 week rotation.. Just I noticed its been said to be a s&v or just a couple of days..?
ja55on I have made this several times now. I can say that it blends much better with time and the vanilla seems to be better after at least a couple of days. Is it good as a shake and Vape? Absolutely, would it be even better if we could make it and forget about it for a month? Most certainly!
I love this recipe, tastes rich and buttery just like shortbread! If your not a fan of savory flavors I would avoid this but thanks for an amazing recipe, something I love about this is how its not overpowering and the recipie shows great restraint when using flavourings, Betamax (Ella Robinson) really know what she is doing. Thanks for a great recipe!!
This recipe is amazing..as I posted above..... make the original once a week...I also added cinn sugar cookie and it's a great snicker doodle ...I found strawberry is also amazing in this recipe.. Thanks so much! This a great base and I also keep a bottle when mixed for snv... love it ! Steeped only gets better!Just mix it you won't be sorry🙂
all taste buds are different ....I have some of the best reviewed juice from a great company...and it was "ok" at best...so yeah we all taste things differently.....I personally think this recipe is excellent ..alone and as a base...jmho.. :)
Having trouble finding Sugar Cookie CAP v1 Im assuming this is the v1 but I only got the v2 would it be worth using the v2 or just wait till I get the v1 from somewhere :(?
Hi @Duke yep a lot of places are just selling the v2 now, which is annoying, anyway if your in the U.K. You can get it from here https://www.justvape247.com/sugar-cookie-capella-12724-p.asp
I must be missing something here. I here talk of crunchy buttery cookie and I'm getting neither. I tastes more like a dough-y lemon lard. I just don't get any butter and the cookie is far off base for my taste.
Dan Dan Dan - go to Chef's Flavours in the UK! They ship pretty reasonably price-wise to the states.

I used 2%FA cinn sugar cookie and 2% caps cinn danish swirl in place of caps sugar cookie..I also played around with more cinn danish swirl...among other cinna roll brands.. and I did add a lil SB ripe and Sb shisha to the original recipe... this is a great base to play with... I'm thinking Pistachio next✌️ Thanks Ella💙
Hmmm.... not sure what all the hype is. Made this to the T..... 480ml of it, bought all the flavors to jump on the hype train. Just didnt do anything for me, even after steeped. Gave most of it away.Only tried it in genny style ohmega calypso tanks so idk. I had some left over flavorings and making strawberry shortcake with them.
I think its a great base flavoring...very subtle, might be great base for adding fruit flavors.
sugar cookie + biscuit is a good combination. I will try it with FA cookie the next time or maybe i would try mix this recipe with bust-a-nut to get hazelnut cookie :)
Just got round to vaping this one, started yesterday and I kinda like it, not too sweet, and a definite short bread taste, I cannot detect the vanilla custard, which is a good thing, so many custard recipes on here it’s nice to see custard used to compliment the profile and not as the main profile, thanks.
Delicious! Bet this would be great with nuts amd chocolate. Will try one day. Thank you!
(For others info, I do not have AP and used Vanilla Swirl instead. And it does taste like a not too-sweet cookie but also a lot like Creamy Custard recipe).
Hi thanks for sharing
I have here three weeks back a batch of 250 ml of created and as described smells after a day or three four beautiful color too and after 2 weeks of steep tank in the kylin tried in one word great
will he longer State to only get better I think
So good! I really enjoyed it off the shake but it definitely gets richer/fuller after a few days. I'm pretty leery of AP after accidentally using it way too high but I barely notice it here. Initially I subbed the AP for Malt (NF) and the Vanilla Shisha for Vanilla Swirl (tpa). Those substitutes seemed to work quite well, but as soon as I got Vanilla Shisha (inw) I mixed it as published. Excellent work. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. Personally I expected a shortbread biscuit taste but I don't get it at all, its very bland.
Shame as the reviews are great. I ve tried with strawberry and fruits to give a fruit buscuit but nothing for me works. Thanks again but want to give my honest opinion.
Had my eye on this recipe for awhile. Finally ordered the missing ingredients to make it. I love this recipe. Great taste, not too overpowering. The longer I vape, the more I appreciate recipes like this. Just a great, subtle flavor.
Bigtime dissapointed, I feel conned to be honest. I fully appreciate we have different taste buds but come on..... surely not this much difference. There's nothing to this, very very mild indeed. Don't get me wrong, don't taste horrible. Just tastes bloody boring. And yes It's steeped for a long time now (made 4 months ago) tried every month.
If there was the only flavour in extense and haven't tried anything else ever, then I can understand how someone can say they "appreciate it".But until then, I think the lovers raving about it are insane.
@Kevester83 This is mainly a base recipe to add anything what is comming in your head, like fruits for example. See this recipe: e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/890136/Ckemist%20Remix:%20Ella%27s%20Razzy%20Shortbread
Just fabulous. Tried straight off and was nice but after 3 weeks its just so much better!!
Have separated it into another bottle to leave for another 3 weeks.
Great liquid! Made it at 24mg and 60pg/40vg, tastes super freshly made! Curious how it will taste when steeped a bit more! Thanks for sharing! One of my favourite liquids already!
I see what the profile is trying to be, and I think it does it quite well but it did not work for me as a whole. A bit thin in flavour yet made me cough. Tried it twice, both after a month+ steep, to the same effect. Will try it a third time to finish the tester but I am not really looking forward to it.
After a 3 day steep, this recipe is practically unvapable right now. I'm also getting a strange chemical taste. Actually had to cut my wattage down by 33% because it taste burnt, like dry hit. Will let it steep more to see how it evolves. There seems to be a nice flavor in there but right now it is masked by unpleasant off notes.
After 10-14 days steep, the buttery richness and flavor has come alive and the harshness gone away completely. I'm rarely satisfied with recipes but I don't think I would even touch this one, as it is perfectly balanced after steeping. I believe it's the AP and I've seen it act up in other recipes when the juice is less than 3 days old.
The flavor is so rich that I'm glad it is slightly subdued. More flavor and it would be unbearable for my taste. Not an ADV for me but I can vape through a whole 4-6ml without getting sick of the flavor. Thank you for your contribution
Subbed Vanilla Shisha (Inawera) with bourboun (Vanilla bourbon) (FA) and steeped overnight, and WOW, new all day vape discovered! Can't wait until it's fully steeped! Thanks a lot :)
For once I had all the ingredients and made this up yesterday. I’m quite excited to try this as I’ve heard so much about it but I’m going to put it away to steep for a few weeks first. I will come back and rate this once it’s ready. Thank you for sharing your great recipes with us,much appreciated.
Mixed this up and put it in the steep drawer, I give most bakery mixes a minimum of 4 weeks, pulled it out to try the other day and its absolutely amazing!! Will definitely be mixing more, only made 30ml to try, cheers for a great recipe!! :)
I’m back after trying this last night after over a month and a half’s steep and it’s definitely deserves the five stars that I and others have rated it. It really does taste like the description and none of that cheesy, damp cardboard flavour that I sometimes get with some of these ingredients,I think the culprit there was from using Sugar Cookie V2 but I could be entirely wrong. Anyhow thanks for sharing your great recipes and for all of the help and advice that you give to our community.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After I made this at first, and while I liked it, it was just a bit too subtle even after a couple of weeks steeping. After 3 months though, it has transformed into a really smooth, delicate, morish vape.
To get the best out of it, I prefer to drip it using my Nano Wasp with a simple coil to pick up the subtle notes, I haven't been able to put the bottle down since.
5 stars from me, and a definite ADV with lots of potential for tweaking if you want to increase the flavour.
Mixed exactly as written, but used V2 of CAP Vanilla Custard and CAP Sugar Cookie. Lovely recipe! I'm about 4 days in and its great... looking forward to how it'll develop over the next few weeks. Thanks so much!
@sd340068 Per your comment about adding butter. It's good as is, but i'd thought about adding a few drops of butter, also. My mom used to make old fashioned Scottish Shortbread, and the recipe literally called for about 4 lbs of butter. lol Was fantastic, total melt in mouth. I thought i might try to add a tad of butter to get a bit more of that flavor.
@OddModicum please let me know how it turns out. I’m in the UK and often have a tin of the Scottish Shortbread that you are describing at Christmas time and it’s full of buttery goodness, this is the real authentic shortbread by the way and your Mum was spot on.
@Lucas James Holden, I'll definitely post back after my butter experiment to get a more Scottish Shortbread melt-in-mouth effect. I think the only butter in my arsenal is CAP Golden Butter, so I'll give that a try and let you know as soon as my new bottle of AP shows up. I'm also going to try a version w/ a veeery small amount of FW Cake Batter Dip added... I'm hoping that tweaks it just a tiny bit toward the yeasty/sweet slightly grainy side. And I'm Italian...I never realized my mum's Scottish Shortbread which we'd gift in vintage tins for Christmas presents was a UK Christmas tradition. How cool! That's put a whole new spin on a cherished childhood memory for me. ty ty!
@OddModicum yes it’s a very British tradition around Christmas time and the tins are often quite vintage looking with Scottish tartan on or Scottie Dogs on them. We get a large tin every Christmas 🎄 I’m so glad that I’ve helped to add some extra information to your cherished childhood memories, this makes me very happy. Hope to catch up soon with your results using the Golden Butter,Cake Batter Dip etc, good luck.👍
I ended up mixing this up and agree with the note about it being a good base. As a stand-alone I can't comment because I decided to pair it with a pistachio peanut butter ice cream.
I can imagine this would also be delicious in a caramel tobacco recipe.
Hi what can I sub the cap vanilla custard with, it just taste like chemicals to me, a shame because a lot of recipes seem to have it in, any help appreciated
Wow, so buttery and rich and still not really dense nor harsh. I love it, thanks for sharing!
"Comforting crumbly buttery vanilla Scottish shortbread" Indeed!
Well i made mine back 9 month ago and still have no idea what to do with it :))...Need to find some thing too use it up on though how long will the colour is like treacle..
This is one ive come back to but i didn't have vanilla shisha so I subbed it for FA Vanilla Classic Madagascar. Still a fantastic flavour. Do love the inawara biscuit.
@Ella, @VHM, @ALL ...
I love this recipe! But sometimes i wish i could be a little stronger, without add other flavours. I have the oneshot in my stash.
Do you think it will work to use 10% instead of 9%?
Did this make the juice stronger without changing the general flavour?
@Zugmaschine I've mixed it at 10% (lazy mixing, 10 is easier than 9) and don't think it alters flavour much. Maybe try 12%? I'd be wary of going too high because of the AP... Mix could become bitter? But we won't know unless you give it a go :)
@Ahmadlatayfe Thank you for the great review but sorry it took three months to get good for you!
@Cpt_Trips sorry for answer so late.
Its really not much diffrent with 11%. Really a little bitter, how you sad.
But with original percentage and adding 2% FW Yellow Cake iam happy.
Mixed it with1 sub: Purilum cookie instead of CAP and it is the best juice I've mixed so far. The only bad: it is so tasty, I almost drink it. 5 stars!
If you consider buying this made for you from eliquidremix dont do it. First the recipe is 6 years old and they changed the custard so it will not be the same profile as the original was meant to be.
@316VAPES the Vanilla Custard ist still the same, no change.
Yes there is also a CAP Vanilla Custard V2 on the market, but it has nothing to do with the custard in this recipe.
Its still a good recipe, also after all this years.
Very tasty and it will probably be one of the recipes that can also be vaped in the next few years, as RTAs hardly bring any innovations to light. Therefore absolutely recommendable and a recipe that is not outdated.
Damn this is such a good and accurate recipe. Even if I blind tested this I would know it is a shortbread biscuit! Just smashed through 100mls in a week and that was with me trying to hold off and vape other stuff! Seriously couldn't put it down!
