This is my analog cig ADV at the moment. It's a no nonsense tobacco blend, not sweet. Western gives it a leathery top note while Burley and DNB serves as the base. Bump up DNB for more ash but don't push it past 1.5 % in my opinion. Read my notes on Red Burley for more insight into what it brings to the mix.
You can vape this after a few days steep if needed. Of course, 2 weeks or more is better but there's no creepy floral taste or anything that needs to "die off" during the steep.
V3 coming.. Trying to figure out another tobacco to add for some leafy tobacco taste.
Just read your thoughts on the FLV Red Burley posted on Reddit; nice summary. It's nice to see fellow tobacco folks who are able to dissect a concentrate and write a proper description of what they're tasting and smelling. Fingers crossed, Brendan will be releasing a Kentucky Blend very soon. He sent me 6 tobacco prototypes back in April to test and review. Unfortunately, I feel like only 2 out of 6 will make it to market; Red Burley and the Kentucky Blend. We'll see. ; )
I also see you like your tobacco vapes with a punch! Me too.
Yes, tobacco vapes should essentially bare knuckle box my taste buds, that's my sweet spot pretty much :)
On notes.. heck ya. It's great to finally be able to contribute to the wealth of information that I've read on flavors and DIY in general. I'm pretty new to mixing, only about a month and a half in, but Burley really knocked my socks off and feels like I'm starting to hit my stride as far as creating (somewhat) realistic tobacco recipes.
I was emailing with Aaron at FLV a few days ago and he mentioned Kentucky Blend too. Fairly sure I'll be ordering a bucket load of Red Burley from them soon so if I'm lucky and ask real nice they might throw in a sample of Kentucky. Real cool guys over at Flavorah and seems like they're really stepping up their game in the realm of true tobacco flavors!
Sounds good, lookin forward to hearing your thoughts. I recommend minimum 3 day steep before tasting. But ultimately, I found this is best between 2 weeks and 2 months. TPA Western seems to develop quite a bit with a long steep.
After a week, the mix has a slighty nutty smell, but the flavour does taste like tobacco albeit more like a mix of shag/cigars, not like cigarettes. Has a very "wet socks" aftertaste. Will try it again in 2 weeks.
this is my first tobacco mix since getting into diy a few months ago. after a 2 week steep, I enjoy this very much, especially with coffee. I get more cigar than cig, but great none the less. very satisfying. thanks for sharing!
Yes FLV Burley is very much a cigar type flavor. I made this recipe early on in my tobacco pursuits. Finding it very hard to make an actual cig flavor. Pipe and cigar seems much more doable. Glad you're enjoying tho!
