Notes
Steeping: 7- 10 days. Butterscotch really leaps out after 14 days.

Optional:
- Sweetner is optional as some of these flavorings are naturally sweet.
- Nutty: Hazelnut (FA) 0.8% -> 1%, Cookie (FA) 1.0% -> 1.2%

My most delicious recipe to date! Rusty Pelican is a rich butterscotch ice cream scooped and wrapped in a golden crepe, and topped with toasted hazelnuts and a drizzle of caramel.

Ice Cream: Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA), Sweet Cream (TPA)
Golden Crepe: Cookie (Biscotto) (FA)
Butterscotch/Caramel: Butterscotch Ripple (FW), Sweetner (TPA)
Toasted Hazelnut: Hazel Grove (Hazelnut) (FA), Butter Pecan (FW)

Enjoy !

Have you tried this with fw hazelnut?
#3 by VaporAlchemist, Aug 12. 2016, 23:08
I don't have FW Hazelnut, but I hear it is a great flavor, and I'm sure it will work here. It is not as strong as the FA version, so I'd go 4% FW Hazelnut, and drop the Butter Pecan (FW) to 2.5%. Let me know how it turns out for you.
#4 by Alisa, Dec 3. 2016, 23:12
Nice recipe! AFTER mxing, aging for 2 weeks and testing, I have also mixed another batch, substituting (FW) Hazelnut for the Hazelgrove (FA) and adding a little bit of sweetener. I like the new rendition better myself because it's sweeter and a little less 'earthy'. But, this is all subjective of course and overall a very nice recipe and vape!
#5 by Hap, Dec 8. 2016, 06:11
Just mixed this. Tasty to start can see this being really good after a steep. Thanks for sharing!
#6 by VaporAlchemist, Dec 8. 2016, 07:12
@Alisa: You're really making me want to order FW Hazelnut. Hell, I want to mix all you recipes, because most of them are up my alley.

@Hap: Butterscotch Ripple takes on new heights with a proper steep. Thanks for trying out my recipe.

Can I sub Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA) with another flavor ? Because I tried Mustard Milk and it tasted peppery to me. Also you didn't add Vanilla Custard v1 (Cap) in your flavor list, is this normal ?

Sorry for my rusty english (see what I did there ?)
#8 by VaporAlchemist, Dec 20. 2016, 22:40
Hey reapefer, I found VBIC (TPA) very peppery at first, but I kept vaping through it, and now I don't taste any pepper. Maybe I adapted to it. Anyway, do you have Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (Cap)? use it at 5%. If not, do you have Bavarian Cream (TPA)? use it at 4%. If not, do you have Vanilla Swirl (TPA)? use it at 3.5%. I do have Vanilla Custard but I think Vanilla Custard is too heavy for this recipe. Sadly, I haven't updated my flavor list in a while, because I have too many flavors. Have a rusty afternoon ;)
#9 by reapefer, Dec 20. 2016, 22:49
Thank for the answer. I asked for vanilla custard cap since you name it in the description of the recipe (after golden crepe). Must be an error then ;)

#10 by VaporAlchemist, Dec 20. 2016, 23:08
My bad. I removed it. You can add 1% Vanilla Custard to enhance the cookie/bakery note, but I would not use it as my main cream here.
#11 by Billywilly, Jan 12. 2017, 17:08
Made this a little over a month ago.. vaping it now.. it's so good man. Thanks for the recipe.
#12 by Nick Nick, Jan 21. 2017, 06:30
Nice work. The smell was driving me mad, so had to vape it after only two days. Very satisfying. Putting this one into my permanent recipe file. Thank you.
#13 by Shabba, Mar 3. 2017, 18:21
Anything I can substitute butter pecan with? & can I sub CAP VBIC at same % as I've developed the peppery taste with TPA :'(
#14 by VaporAlchemist, Mar 3. 2017, 21:48
Cap VBIC is fine. Butter Pecan however is difficult to substitute, unless you have a pralines and cream or something similar. You can leave it out completely, and use a full bodied hazelnut like FW at 4%. Or leave butter pecan out, and use Marzipan, almond, or Torrone in very small 0.5 % to compliment the hazelnut. It won't be the same recipe, but it will still be good.

If you can get your hands on Butter Pecan FW, you won't regret it. It's the kind of flavoring that is true to its name, plays well with other flavorings, and gets better with steeping. It's one of my top ten cannot live without.
#15 by Billywilly, Mar 4. 2017, 00:33
I agree with vaporalchemist through and through.. FW Butter pecan is the bees knees.. I wouldn't be trying to sub that flavoring.. I would just buy a giant bottle of it cause it's an amazing flavoring... I use it almost as much as FW butterscotch ripple..
#16 by Billywilly, Mar 7. 2017, 00:11
This is such a good recipe.. I made a couple tweaks to suit my tastes on the one I made about 10 days ago.. it was a 50ml bottle.. today I ran that bottle over with a forklift at work on accident.. really screwed my day up. So I made another bottle just now and incorporated a few (WF) flavors into it. Pretty excited to see how this turns out after a week or 2.. but I decided to try it fresh after mixing and it might not last cause it's real damn good.
#17 by Nattkryp, Mar 9. 2017, 19:22
Got the flavors needed to complete this recipe in 100% today (order as per your recommendation in the mega man yogurt recipe :)).. Just mixed it and shaked a bit. I can see what this is comming to - great richness and butterscotch decadence.

Will make another for steeping and the one i just made will be for daily tastes throughout the first week :).
#18 by VaporAlchemist, Mar 11. 2017, 15:50
Hey Nattkryp, let me know how you like it after a good steep. I'm a caramels junkie, and vaping this stuff feels like a sin.
#19 by Nattkryp, Mar 17. 2017, 14:22
Just opened The other bottle and 8 days in its a lovely butterscotch :).

I also used a base of this with some modification and created a "greasy apple pie/Apple Danish cinnamon swirl. Really good mix of flavors in this.
#20 by VaporAlchemist, Mar 18. 2017, 08:10
Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on a good Apple cinnamon pie myself. Rich Cinnamon FLV is the bomb.
#21 by Shabba, Mar 31. 2017, 09:55
this has become 1 of my all day vapes with a few adjustments to what i had available
absolutely stunning vape, thanks for sharing VaportAlchemist
#22 by Nattkryp, Mar 31. 2017, 12:14
Sounds great VaporAlchemist. Will make sure to try it once you're done :). I enjoyed it with only a slight cinnamon (too much cinnamon and it's not my thing... so far. Gonna try yours anyways :)).
#23 by Deftohms, Apr 8. 2017, 01:44
This is absolutely amazing. Had to sub out the hazelnut for FW's version at 4%, but this recipe has literally been my ADV for the past month and a half. Definitely does need to steep but I find that after a 4 hour warm bath and a 5min sonic cleanse this is amazing off the bat. Of course it just gets better over time. Great job man, and thank you for sharing!
#24 by VaporAlchemist, Apr 8. 2017, 16:18
@Evan Thank you sir. That is high praise. I'm glad you enjoy it as much as I do.

FA Cookie (Biscotto) is just known as Cookie. This is what my research tells me when I went looking for that particular flavor. Hope that saves somebody else time spent trying to track that down.
#28 by David, Nov 11. 2017, 06:59
Very good recipe. I don't really get all that crepe and what not in the description but nevertheless, it's still really good. What I get is basically a nuts n cream. My palette doesn't pick up on a lot of stuff that other people can unfortunately. Good job.
#29 by OfcourseIDIY, Dec 10. 2017, 04:47
This is very good! I also subbed in FW Hazelnut for Hazel Grove by FA. I have FA Hazel Grove but much prefer FW Hazelnut. Thanks for the recipe, the Butterscotch Ice cream is delicious!
#30 by jdrizzle, Dec 11. 2017, 05:50
SO SMOOTH! ... The ice cream morphs with the butterscotch just beautifully! thanks so much
#31 by TwinsWin, Apr 3. 2018, 00:36
I very much want to make this. I don't have FA Hazelnut though. I do have FA Almond or FW & JF Hazelnut. Would any of those be sufficient? I can always order FA Hazelnut next time if it's essential.
#32 by SavannahSanguine , Apr 9. 2018, 10:35
Tastes fantastic! Thank you so much!
#33 by Mike, Apr 9. 2018, 13:31
I lowered the hazelnut to 0.15% it made it even better. Where is the Vapor Alchemist? Make some more amazing recipes for us. I have been vaping this one everyday for a year and still love it.
#34 by VaporAlchemist, Apr 9. 2018, 13:44
I'm around Mike. I'm stoked you're still enjoying this one. I have one solid recipe in the bank ready to post soon, and I'm working on a couple that are not there yet.
#35 by Mike, Apr 9. 2018, 15:39
Yea I love this recipe. I have recently been playing with the % and sweeteners. Its real nice with 0.6% super sweet and the lowered hazelnut. Yesterday I made some with cap sugar cookie 2% and another bottle with inw biscuit 1% just to see how it tastes. I will let them steep a month. I was wondering if you stopped diy, very nice to find out you haven't. Thanks for sharing !!!
#36 by TwinsWin, Apr 9. 2018, 15:48
So is it okay to sub the hazelnut?
#37 by Mike, Apr 9. 2018, 16:04
@TwinsWin Sure why not. Or even try a small batch without hazelnut and a small batch with your subs. Try you FW at 1%?
#38 by TwinsWin, Apr 9. 2018, 19:25
Thanks Mike! I need to read more closely. For some reason I have issed your comment on post #33. I bet this is rich and delicious. I will make a batch tonight.
#39 by Zugmaschine, Apr 12. 2018, 22:43
Very nice Recipe! Thought it would be TO nutty, but its excelent! I taste the butterscotch crepe and the topping Hazelnut! Creamy and sweet, without extra sweetener. Good work @VaporAlchemist. Thanks for the Recipe!
#40 by Lantana, Sep 11. 2018, 11:31
I've made this a few times now and have stuck to your original recipe, except for the sweetner. Have left that out. I love this recipe and find it much better than the Bust a Nut one on these forums. I think the addition of the Butterscotch Ripple really made the taste outstanding. Love it. Love it! :) Thanks for sharing.
#41 by SuperFrog, Sep 12. 2018, 18:20
Good except for the diketones notes that kill the taste for me. I like the balance otherwise
#42 by stratu, Dec 30. 2018, 06:02
Thanks a bazillion for this recipe! I made 25ml, tried it after 14 days steep and immediately mixed up another 60ml. GREAT work!
#43 by Locnar, Feb 10. 2019, 07:54
With all the great reviews I went ahead and made 180ml of this brew! Even though I had Hazelnut, I subbed in some Hazelnut Praline that NicRiv threw in as a sample. 4 oz of it, lol! Hoping it will do the trick, plus add a little praline flavor as well, but might sweeten too.
#44 by Demiz, Mar 27. 2019, 12:43
I had to add 1% Cream from Flavorah as I was out of TFA's Sweet Cream. Also, I used a mixture of EM and Super Sweet to replace the sweetener, so that's why I'm not gonna actually rate the recipe. But I have to say it turned out really nice. Beautiful thick vanilla cream with a lovely nutty aftertaste (especially on the first couple of puffs). The cookie gives it a somewhat waffle / creppe vibe which I really love. It did need a good 3 (if not 4) weeks for it to get to this point, but it was definitely worth the wait so thank you very much for sharing!

Also worth mentioning is that I find it more enjoyable on tanks running 45-50 watts rather than on drippers with 80+ watts settings, but it's lovely either way. Thank you again.
#45 by apocrisy, Apr 4. 2019, 11:51
Can I sub FA cookie biscotto? I have flv biscotti, inw biscuit, cap sugar cookie, fw graham cracker, im rly not sure what note biscotto is, so as to what to sub it for and at what %, can anyone chip in sone info please? Much appreciated.
#46 by Tdifr62, Apr 4. 2020, 15:48
Might be my favorite ADV ... This is soooo good. Sweet and creamy.
#47 by Matek's Mayhem, Apr 20. 2020, 23:27
Finally!! A butterscotch recipe where I can taste butterscotch. This is a truly tasty vape. I tip my hat to you.
